Fine Wood Boats – Where To Find Classic Boat Parts In These Parts!

,

I got it, I got it..

We all know the name Jim Staib, and Jaxon, our regular pooch here on WoodyBoater. Jim is a real go to person when you need something. He has a heart of chrome, and bronze. And most importantly to all of us, has the parts to back up that claim. To quote Jim about his moving. “Took 5 months to move. 29 trips. 17,000 miles. Scrapped 40,000lbs. 3.400lbs of just starters. Actually found a boat I forgot about. Burned it.”

In Case you forgot.

Last night I begged Jim to out to his new 6,000 sq ft barn and grab some photos. Stuff is still in boxes, but he knows where it all is. I know this system well, and it may look crazy, but it works. And I have NEVER been able to not find what I needed from him.

Yup, its right there!

NOW, right now, is a perfect time to get stuff done on your boat. Lets be real here, chances are you may not even go boating for the next month…or two…or? Just yesterday in Maryland they announced recreational boating is a no go in Maryland waters.

That is one cool ass sign. And engine, and oars, and floor

And we all need parts, and the people that are passionate about parts, or parts of people that are part nuts for parts. So without further adoooo. Jims Parts. oh, wait.. Oh never mind.

Closed for visitors, OPEN FOR BUSINESS!

Need a correct part looked up. Jim’s got the books. This is pre internet stuff, and many things are NOT on the internet, but yes they are on Jims Book shelf

Gasket sets, and old cans

EZ Blow horns. Original ones. Every boat should have one of these. Every man cave as well.

Chrome parts

Lights. Red ones, Green ones, Blue ones that used to be green ones.

Rare CLUM KEYS! Holy crap!

Props. Props and more props. Props to Jim.. Peace out!

Lots of Elbows. Like a Japanese train ride.. Pre Corona Joke.

Manafolds. When they come up with a Womanafold I am ready! Bam, Try the Veil! I will be here all week

Drawers and drawers of parts that are in Drawers. And shelves next to Drawers. AND GET THIS, YOU CAN ORDER THE PARTS IN YOUR… DRAWERS!

Dash parts. mmmmm, I need one of those..

Flagstaffs. Not in Arizona BTW.

Head Gaskets. Buckets of Head gaskets. Ya, we all have that in our barns. Wait.. I do! Dang!

Oil cans.. Glorious oily cans of art.

Wheels.. Wheels and more Wheels. I wonder if Jim has wheels?

Trapped at home and need to get some Woodyness in your life. Dishes. Yup, Woody Dishes. These will look great flying at you from across the room when you bring them home

Jim clearly has a Canoe issue. He has 12 of these. Who in the hell has 12 Canoes? Wait.. Thats kinda cool. Great, now I am looking for old canoes. GD it!

Ohhh I like!

Over 40 Engines.. I see Ventilators here..

Even Jaxon has some goodies here. 1967 Kennedy Fire plug.. Somewhere.. Someone collects these things. maybe even has a website.. Fireplugger.. And no I am not gonna even google that cause I will get lost in a world of Fire plugs and then go over to Pugs, and there goes my day.

PISTONS.. A CRATE OF PISTONS.

I can say this. My equipment does not.

Exhausted yet? Copper pipes.

Lift rings.. Shafts..

Generators

Oars. Or more Oars.

Okay its time to hit publish.

YOU CAN VISIT FINE WOOD BOATS HERE ON THE INTERNET. IN YOUR DRAWERS IF YOU LIKE. No Judgements these days. And a HUGE thanks to Jim Staib for all you do for all of us.

      Jaxon
Could you ask JIM if he could help me or connect with someone who can
We have a restoration project the Queen From White Bear Lake built by JO Johnson one of the inventors of racing scows and this was his personal motor launch built 1938 and launched in 1940
My issue the motor is a 1938 Graymarine of GM Detroit diesel and the tranny is Als stamped GMD 37 a GM Detroit but it wasn’t built by GM it was attached as a package. The motor is rebuilt and running nice but no luck on the tranny with 4 different guys who have gotten stumped . Dave Van Ness thinks the make is Snow Madstedt parts are a problem.
Needs a rebuild of lots of broken stuff so better yet how bout a rebuilt older tranny that would fit this?
      Any help appreciated
      Thanks

So Jim did you move farther North where there is more snow?
    You must really love snow?
Looks like you are well on your way to being organized!
Is the GarWood clock for sale?

      Shep,
Never been here in the winter. Spring, Summer and Fall are beautiful. Got frustrated with the taxes and corruption. This was the first waterfront place I found with commercial zoning. 3X the snow I am used to but dealt with it😀
      Clock not for sale.

When I first started in the hobby at the ripe age of 23 I couldn’t believe Jim would burn boats and I gave him a hard time about it. After being in the hobby now a number of years, he’s totally right, some boats just aren’t worth being saved. Jim has been an incredible asset to the community. Thank you for all the help you’ve given me and others Jim! It’s nice that you’re right around the corner. 🙂

I did not know Jim had such a collection. I always enjoy his comments here on Woody butter. Enjoy seeing and hearing from Jaxon also. Good thing to know if I need something. Wait a womanfold damn you think these old engines are high maintenance and temperamental now.

Jim had the missing horse head trim that went on the side of Ginger, our ’62 Resorter 19. He sent them to CA and we had them re-chromed and installed. THANKS JIM!

I am very proud of my nephew, Jim Staib, he is a talented young man, very knowledgeable of his craft. His shop is so organized I can’t believe how good it looks. He is so much like his Dad, there isn’t anything he can’t accomplish. Great job Jimmy! ♥️
