Flipp’n A Boat Jimmy Style!
Ya’ll livin the big city life, got yur fancy pants boat flippn devices. But out in the country, folks do things in there own style. Jimmy style. On Saturday night we all headed out to Jimmys farm Virginia. Now, ya’ll wonder how does a fella flip a boat out in the middle of no were. Easy.. First ya need two John Deere Tractors some straps. And the rest takes care of itself.. Kinda.

As the sun was setting, Termite Terror rests on her transporter to the shed.
So you ask, why are we flipping a very nice plywood Cavalier? Well it leaks, it leaks alot. Fiberglass bottom also from the factory. It was an option that this boat came with. There is not on spot that we can see, yet water is coming in along the battens? Stringer? THings, i have no idea what they are called, but water is coming in… Anyone have a clue?
So does this qualify as a Glass question or a Wood question.
I will leave this alone and just read what the pro’s have to say.
Think they had enough help? Two or three could have easily flipped the plywood shell…without the backhoe.
I’m sorry but in the 5th picture he looks like he’s lovin’ that boat just a little too much.
His wife said “Me or the boat!” and he’s just checking out all his options before deciding.
EZ, except that 6430 cost more than my last house. Of course providing beer for a dozen friends might be about the same.
did u pull up the floor boards first and then launch and see where water was coming in on a dry bilge? Its amazing tho how much water a screw hole (w/o a screw) will let in. Also, the thru bolts into the stringer can loosen up after shrink and swell cycles then “wear” thru the glass and need rebedding then epoxy the “patch”. Good luck, love the “Termite Terror” when I saw it at Tavares. Have one unrestored myself

Termites eat fiberglass. No wonder it’s taking on water!
Normally people call exterminators when they have termite issues. I don’t think this will solve your leaking problem though. Good Luck and check your through bolts, stuffing box, rudder packing nut, and your exhaust pipe packing, and of coarse any cracks in your fiberglass.

My family would have used the Deere to dig a hole to bury it.
Here I am again! I’m thinking maybe the shaft or rudder packing.
Check the spray rails where the hull sides meet the bottom,also the center mahogany keel piece-screws loosen-Inspect the bottom-the fiberglass used is very thin and the slightest gash will cause water intrusion.
I removed all the putty from the hull sides on my ’67 and every screw was loose.Good luck
