Graves Plating Joins The Woody Boater Family. Woohoo!
A Big Woody welcome to Graves Plating to the Woody Boater family of sponsors. We are thrilled beyond words that they have joined us in support of the on going effort to bring you daily news. I have known Rod Graves for years and he and the company he owns is a class act all the way. No short cuts or excuses. They did the work on “Sylvia” our beloved Barrel Back and the work is simply amazing, and stood up to the test of time, and judges.
This may seem like a strange way to brag about a supplier, but.. on one of the parts when they came back, Rod had pointed out an imperfection before they made it to me. I was on a tight deadline. He would have normaly just sent the part back through to be done right. So I sent him another part I had and they fixed the part lickety split no charge. I had never noticed it by the way. He pointed it out… It was a tiny little dot on a bear claw.. They say one can judge ones integrity by how they fix problems. The job was perfect, and looked that way two years later when I sold her. Yes there are cheaper places out there, but if you want the best.. and as you know, in the end it’s cheaper to do it right once. On a budget? Do fewer parts and phase it in. For boats quality work is key since they are continualy exposed to the elements. There is nothing worse that crappy work that has not been finished right under the plating. Causing a rough look, or peeling chrome. Graves makes sure the parts are concourse condition. They are used to big orders coming in by mail by the way, since they do work from all over the US and Canada.
We ask that you support all our sponsors who in turn support you. We are proud of all our sponsors and with out hesitation recommend each and every one of them. We can not be prouder than to add Graves Plating to the family! If you want to find out more about being a sponsor or what it takes to be one, you can read all about it in the ABOUT section.
Welcome Aboard Rod!
It was great to meet you in Dora.
I will be in touch next winter as I have some pieces that will need doing.
Come on Troy, no photo to go with a chrome story?
Rod is the kind of person that makes doing business a real pleasure. Through the process he becomes an ally, a consultant and a friend. As Matt said he does it right, every time. The value he provides justifies the cost. When you consider the time, expense, dedication and heartache that go into a restoration, spending a little more for great chrome is an easy decision and one that you won’t regret. Rod understands what these boats mean to us, and he understands how to treat a customer as well as how to treat valuable sometimes one of a kind hardware. Thanks and welcome aboard Rod!
Julie Ann won the honor of the Graves Plating Sponsor award in Tavares in 2013. We had hoped to bring it back in 2014 but 3 weeks before the show the snow laden roof over Julie Ann collapsed. While the damage is severe it is repairable and Rods outstanding chrome survived without injury.
We missed visiting with Rod this year but hope to be back next year
I guess my post of the chrome bikini pushed the limits of good taste too far. I got censured. Sorry. I’ll leave that type of post to Troy.
Rick we blamed Troy,, you are safe.. We are having to monitor copyrighted images these days to make sure we are not showing other folks photos.
Rod Graves is one of the longest running supporters of antique boating and I’ve never heard a complaint about his work….He is definitely a class act.
