MotorCar Over To The MotorBoat Garage Open House February 17th

You need this!
You have no doubt seen the new banner of WoodyBoater, and thought, mmm? I wonder what thats all about. Well, they are new and old all at the same time? This is a group of folks that was part of the crew at The Antique Boat Center. Dennis, Joel, Brian and Lou have all stepped out a couple years ago and started their own shop in Cincinnati. As we all know, 2 years in this passion is brand new.

Engines, engines and more engines
Here is a note from the guys. Take it away.
After 10 years of working for a broker and restorer, I wanted to open my own shop. I wanted to take all of the good things from what I had learned in this antique boat restoration business that focused solely on antique and classic boats. After some encouragement from a few friends and people I work with, we found a small property in 2016 and started work on making it a viable boat shop.

Sanding

And with a fresh coat. you can sniff the varnish if you like!
A low overhead operation was part of the goal. We provide excellent service and craftsmanship at a reasonable cost. 1:00 – 5:00pm to celebrate the fun, history and group therapy that wooden boats bring to us! I took that idea and navigated it past some antique boaters, Lou Rauh and Dennis Ryan, who know better than to throw out the old boat with the bilge water. My ideas were tossed around, a plan was developed and in August of 2016, Motor Boat Garage was opened.

Engine work

Love the sign
An idea → incubation → plan and hatch = motorboatgarage.com Okay so … find a building/shop, get tools and equipment together, outfit the place, do all of the business paperwork stuff to look legal and official, find good
experienced people (like Joel Terbrueggen, Frank Jones and Dennis Ryan ) , get people to bring their boats to Cincinnati. Piece o’ cake!

Bootm job on a barrel back
The water gods (Mahogany, Varnish and Chrome) must have been watching over the Garage; it has grown like barnacles on a pier.
A year and a half later, a second Open House is happening Saturday, February 17, from 1:00 – 5:00pm to celebrate the fun, history and group therapy that wooden boats bring to us!

crank up the car!
Join us Feb 17th!
I’m buying an engine from Brain, just waiting for decent weather for the 16 hour round trip to pick it up. The wall of engines caught my eye. Friendly cooperative people, can’t wait to see their operation.!
John & I hope to make it up to say hello. Seeing boats being prepared for the coming season is a nice boost during the nastiness of winter!
Looks like a place I need to see. Would make a good winter outing.
Is that a 1952ish Chrysler M47S in the foreground of the 9th picture? Can you tell its been a long winter and I am starving for boat stuff? I would love to attend but it is a long drive from Toronto in February. I wish you and your business success.
Brian,
I wish all of you the best of luck with the new business. Sure miss seeing you in sunny Florida.
Pete

Brian glad to see you guy’s back at it.
I will be there on Saturday to see your new place.
