Need An Original Key For Your Classic Boat?

Original keys on ebay
One of the fun parts about doing Woody Boater is that each day brings new small details that are new to me. Maybe not to you, but to a novice like me, this is the sort of thing that floats my boat. Original keys for your boat are just a cool as heck detail that screams authentic goodness. Laugh all you want at my Zippers, and tool sets, but in the unlikely event your/my, boat is ever judged, an original ignition key could be the difference between being a winner of a LOOSER! Or even better, just knowing that you are all original the way the gods intended it all to be, just completes the picture.

Its almost time to turn the key to start summer
So you say, hey Mr Woody Boater, how do you know if you have the original key? Well, on your build sheet, it tells you the type of key and a number stamped into the key. Mine is a match. No after market key. By the way this scares the crap out of me, and I never remove it from the ignition. Now… toady could be your lucky day Mr No original key person. Cause if you have one of the matching numbers on your hull card, there is a fella on ebay sell’n original keys.

Key number and manufaturererer

WECATCHEM’s key. Perfect match

made by Clum MFG, just like the ones on ebay.
Just think, you could actually get New Key today! Anyone? Come on, it was a long way for that one. Anyone? Try the steak, it’s local? Cough cough, wow, tough room today.
If you no longer have the original key, wouldn’t you need an original matching cylinder to go with it?
And your key fob cork should be a 1948 Champagne of course.
OK so I don’t have original keys or original cylinders, but thanks to Paul reminding me of where I was I have this nice picture of me in front of the old CC Sea Skiff factory in Salisbury MD.
That’s Gotta be worth somethin.
Gees, Yes! That’s awesome!
You are in MD? Didn’t you leave Maine on Sunday? At that rate I’ll beat you to Florida, and I don’t leave until Friday.

I have a 40 year old girl friend so new key is no problem 🙂
What is it Confucius say about man who lose old key ????

“Man who lose key to girlfriend’s apartment get no New Key”
Verne
Ha Ha Ha, I lived a protected life and had Never heard the answer. Took a minute… but finally laughed out loud. Now how do I explain my laughter to my granddaughter?

Wait until later when she grows up
I’m still trying to figure out what toady means…
Thanks Wilson. One person got the reference. Oldest joke in the book.
So old in fact, it has been left out of the last 40+ editions! 😀
…and I’m probably the oldest guy reading these posts.
Got amused when talking to Terry Fiest the other day and he was saying antique boaters are getting older and commented, “I don’t have a guy working the docks this year who is under 80.” I replied “So ?”
Oh, so you have a younger crowd this year! Badom Chi! I tell ya, My wife she treats me like a god… she brings me burnt offerings every night! Badoom Chi.. cough cough.
But you should really try the veal.
I see your ignition key and raise you one original door key for our 35′ 1937 CC Double Stateroom Enclosed Cruiser!
I got mine. 1941 25′ Sportsman.
Thanks for the link. I’m looking for a # 89 clum key….
