“Perfect Is The Enemy Of Good”

Holy crap., I do think we may have another someplace.
Thanks to Voltaire for the inspiration, and small cheer to keep going on The WoodyFloater challenge. The entire point here is to just start, and not over think, over plan or any of that stuff. Don’t try and make it a show boat, just start. Every great thing I have done in my life for myself, has just started like this. What the hell, I am just gonna go and fail and fix, and evolve.

I think its 6 or 7 different pieces glued together. Yes some were from the same wood, and others from scraps. I literally have a pile now of small scraps as possible patches. But it is the orig wood. And blends

I found this door in the shed. 68 inches and wide planks, and thick. Old mahogany, and perfect for some side planks. BAM! And yes, it does make a nice table. BUT, its perfect.

Run it up the flag pole and see if it flies.
Mistakes will be made, but thats a form of progress. Have fun with the creative process. Which failure and ridicule is a key ingredient of that process BTW. People all the time ask me, how do I get so much done? I just do it. Sometimes it works, and when it doesn’t, I keep fixing it til it does. And yes it may not be perfect right away. But you can chip away at it, and before you know it, you are in the water on Lake Dora, and looking real hard for Gators.
If you are still suffering from analysis paralysis just let your funk fly and dive in. We are all here for you. Mind you, will make fun of you, and point out your flaws, but also deep inside be on the same team of fools that will be enjoying a good time in Florida in March.
That covering board looks really good. Carry on!
Thanks Greg, it’s shocking how it can go together with the grain.
Excellent advice!
I have to say. Watching this series of B’s long awaited transformation is one of the most enjoyable Woodyboater sequences for me. And I appreciate this inspiration message because I can suffer from “analysis paralysis”. I want to do these types of projects myself but I know I could hire professionals that could do it better.
That covering board is beautiful! You matched the grain so well, I wouldn’t know it wasn’t a single piece in that photo.
Looks like a fun project. No rules, no judges. Just do what you feel.
Mistakes will be made, but thats a form of progress. Put that on a T-shirt/ mug.
That looks really great!
A little JB Weld on the manifold may hold through Dora and keep you under budget for now.
I think a little Marine Tex or JB Weld and wrap should fix that manifold! Build up a couple of layers thick…..🔥😉👍
