Update on WECATCHEM – I Am Feeling Unnatural Thoughts About My New Varnish Finish!
Ya! I went there. Is it wrong? She is 10 years older than me? And man oh man, does she look mighty fine. The best looking 68 year old I have laid eyes on. Just imaging running your hands on that warm varnish! mmmmm. OK, I need to think about baseball or something.
Actually, really, fellow Woody Boater Bob Kays was kind enough to send in some wonderful photos from Katz’s Marina on WECATCHEM. She has 10 coats on her and is resting a bit so the varnish can settle in for her next two coats. She looks amazing with her brand new Katz Finish.
This has been a massive undertaking and the team has sanding and varnishing. Her Chrome is at Graves Plating, and Gauges are at Kocian Instruments being done. Clock all restored, and getting close.
The good news for Bob, he was able to take advantage of the high water and warm weather and go for a first of the year boat ride on the lake with Alan.
Looks amazing Matt, amazing
Wecatchem was my family’s boat. Always in the family from the day she was made. Looks just great, what a job .G Elkins. Thrilled to see her with a loving family!
OK so Matt is having one of his varnish fantasies again!
Got home yesterday. Look at those snow bankings. REALLY?!?
I want to go back to Dora and hang with the Harrisons.
Shovel snow up north or deal with tornado watches and warnings with downed trees in the south. Each choice has its drawbacks. Glad you made it back safely.
Not sure, Troy….It got pretty windy and rainy down here in N. Fl. yesterday……Unlike the snow, the rain and wind are gone today.
Hi Matt, You are doing us proud, we looked at Wecatchem before you bought her, now I’m glad you did. Scott
LOL: From yesterday to save him from having to repost.

……………………………………… I thought it was a site about wooden boats, but maybe it is a site about guys on boats with boners.

Did they varnish over the vintage tampons that were in the drawers?
Rabbit got three fresh coats of varnish in October and then after one shake down cruise went straight into the boathouse for her long winter sleep. So every time I opened the boathouse door this winter to do my mouse check, mmmm, the aroma.
Looks good Matt! There is nothing quite like a slick varnish job. She will great in the water with the sun and waves reflecting off her.
She will look great in the water. My English teacher would have red marked that one.
I am in love with a boat I’ve never laid eyes on, this is not good… She looks amazing!
I like the small drawers. Is that the parts department?
Actually Bert the small drawers were a custom order from the factory for fishing lures.
For god’s sake, Mrs. Robinson. Here we are. You got me into your house. You give me a drink. You… put on music. Now you start opening up your personal life to me and tell me your husband won’t be home for hours.
Really looks great Matt, happy for ya!
Beautiful work Katz’s crew!
