We Interrupt Our Countdown To Florida For Some Real News. Philippine Mahogany Back On The West Coast! And Bill Basler UPDATE!
Thanks to fellow Woody Boater Jordan Heath form Pleasure Bent Boats, for passing on this great news for folks on the west coast, and reminding us that there is other news out there. We also have a wonderful update on Bill Basler.
“Extra! Extra! First new shipment of Phil Mahogany hits the west coast after two years. It’s fresh off the boat and ready to be made into…well…a boat. We’ve all been worried about the future of the hobby with dwindling supplies of Mahogany imports to the US…and it’s not the first time it has happened.
Well the wait is over so buy it while you can. We don’t know how long it will last or when it will come again. Our friends at Pleasure Bent Boats in Castro Valley, CA were the first to dig through this virgin shipment, in fact they may be digging through it as you read this. Give them a call and they can fill you in on this scoop.” You can reach them by clicking here or by phone if you don’t have internet (510) 537-5929… Wait.. If you are reading this you have internet. And if you still don’t think you have internet, and reading this, you may have something else. And may need some other help that all the mahogany in the world cant help.
Thanks to fellow Woody Boater Bill Basler we have some cool vintage photos from the Chris Craft plant back in the day.
We don’t have much of an update on Bill, here is one from some days ago, but below is the latest info and a photo of Bill and his thumbs up! Sorry Bill, you got second billing to a pile of Mahogany! Thats good news.. Hopefully soon you will be there with Old ebay ashtrays shaped like boats. The entire population of Woody Boaterville is rooting for you!
From Michelle
Hi everybody! I know you’ve all said you love reading Bill updates so I’m sorry I’ve been quiet. Keeping up with everything has become quite a full time job for me. Right now the surgeries are done and he is just resting and gaining strength. He can’t do any intense physical therapy until his bones and lungs heal. So prayers for patience is what he needs most. He is looking at 6-8 weeks of healing before he can start bearing weight on any part of his body. For a guy who wanted this process to be over yesterday it’s not going to be easy to digest that time frame. He has a few big milestones to meet yet before we can talk about getting him to a long term rehab facility closer to home. Seeing how hard he’s working I know he’ll do everything in his power to get closer to the kids. I miss them so badly that I can’t even put it into words.
Again, I am completely blown away by the outpouring of love and support for Bill and my family. I promise my eyes will forever be open and looking for ways to pay it all forward. He’s not ready for a lot of visitors yet (mostly because he constantly has someone poking and prodding him and making him do uncomfortable things) but I’ll share a picture of a special visitor he had yesterday. This is little Levi whom, at 11 months, has spent way more time at the UIHC than Bill will ever have to. He dropped by to tell Bill he’s in good hands and miracles are possible.
From a fellow Iowan, we wish you a speedy recovery! U of I hospitals is a great place for care. Thoughts headed your way!
Hang in there Bill, wish you the best..
Keep on keepin’ on! Best wishes to you and your family.
Here’s to a speedy recovery from the great white north. All the best to you and your family. Time heals.
Hey Bill! We’re pulling for ya. Hang in there. Hope you are out of there soon. Love the thumbs up….
Please let us know when he has casts we can sign.
In fact, let’s we WoodyBoaters have a virtual cast signing day for Bill when the time is right.
Chicks dig guys with signed casts, Bill. Or so I hear.
Bill –
Get well bud! Want to hear about milestones met and all that….! Think how great it will feel to be boating again! Thanks Michelle for the updates. Keep pushing him!
Bill,
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Hey Bill and Michelle, I want you to know that even at the bottom of the world we are thinking about you and willing you to gather strength and get better. Kia Kaha is what the native Maori New Zealanders say in a situation like this. It means ‘stay strong.’ So Kia Kaha my woody buddies. We are sending our positive energy. Philip and Aimee.
