A Cold And Windy Lake Hopatcong Show
Bob Kays reports in from Lake Hopatcong from this weekends classic boat show. If you live in the Mid Atlantic area you no doubt know it was a very windy weekend. Like WINDY, and cold..ish for June. We did get some reports in regarding the Black Cobra ripping up the lake with blistering speed. The engine got dialed in correctly and did not disappoint.
“A great show put together by club President Jackie Loughridgeand show chair Ray Reynolds and the entire Lake Hopatcong team. Probably the coldest show since we started in 1974 and definitely the windiest!”
It’s tough when the weather doesn’t cooperate, but it looks like they made the best of it. Really diverse group of beautiful boats.
Thanks for sharing.
Does the wooden tower in the header photo serve some practical purpose, is it the starting line for races???
That is the judge’s tower at the LH Yacht Club. Used during sailing races and many years ago for mahogany boat races.
Looks like a great show. in spite of the wind. A lot of cool boats! Repost those flag shots on the 4th of July.
Thanks for letting us peer into the show Bob. I would love to see those Katz Cobras.
Thanks Bob , great to see Wayne again, l haven’t seen him in years say hello for me.
I had my 62 SeaSkiff at the show only 24 years ago, we had a great time. Still having fun with old boats and old friends.
Spent my youth at LHYC , sailing E scows and racing boats in the annual regatta great to see all those beautiful boats and my old friend Wayne, several of our customers have attended the show and had a great time. Keep up the good work!
