American Pride – The Theme For This Weekend’s Classic Boat Festival In Sandpoint, Idaho
This weekend the nice folks from the Inland Empire Chapter ACBS are hosting their 10th Annual Classic Boat Festival in beautiful downtown Sandpoint, Idaho and if you are in the area, this is one of the premier boat shows in the Pacific Northwest… And one of the premier venues for a classic boat show.
Here’s chapter newsletter Editor and fellow Woody Boater Wes Yandt with the update for this years big show.
American Pride – The 10th Annual Classic Boat Festival at Sandpoint
Texx – I just got word that we have over 55 boats registered for this weekend’s event and we want to show the City of Sandpoint how much we appreciate the new boardwalk.
The Inland Empire chapter of the ACBS is happy to announce that on July 13 through the 15th we will be hosting the 10th Annual Classic Boat Festival in beautiful downtown Sandpoint, Idaho. This year’s show will be a tribute to all of our servicemen and women, past and present with the theme being “American Pride”.
The City of Sandpoint was kind enough to add to the boardwalk at the Sand Creek Marina over the winter so that we could bring another 10 or 15 classic boats up to the show. If you have never been up to Sandpoint in the summer time, you have got to take this in. The setting for the show is absolutely perfect with the board walk running the entire length of our show and the quaint atmosphere. You can stroll through the boats and then venture up to the shops in downtown Sandpoint. There is even a Farmer’s Market that is a very short walk from the show.
It is a very relaxing atmosphere that you just have to experience. So even if your boat project is “still in process” come enjoy the atmosphere and talk classic boats with a bunch of great folks.
The show gets going on Friday at 1:30 when our professional launch assistance crew will help you get your boat safely in the water and even remind you to put the plug in BEFORE launching. Friday night we have a very special Welcome Aboard Dinner Party planned on the lake. You can get there by water or by land.
The boat showing / judging will be Saturday culminating in the always impressive Sand Creek Boat Parade which is very popular for both the spectators and participants. That evening will be an awards dinner.
Sunday will be a play day for the participants with a breakfast and then a fun Poker Run to test your Seamanship. If your good enough to get through the entire Poker Run without any issues you can meet us a local restaurant on the lake for lunch.
Come join in the beauty and fun up at Sandpoint, Idaho. For more information you can click here to go directly to our web site for all the details.
Or contact Kathy Fair at email@example.com or 509-993-6122 for more information.
Thanks, Wes Yandt

Ya know, I was just thinking that if I had a classic old GM Buffalo bus, I could make it to a show like this one all the way in Idaho. Hmmmm.
Your Silver Dog is only a phone call away…
Looks like a fun place to be!. Texx the header today is beautiful. Lapestrakes Rule!
Randy,isn’t that a U-22 ?
Looks like it too me John, but wow- what a beautiful picture. At a glance it does almost appear to be a lapstrake!
Oh crap! well its white, close enough
We wil be on our way down there this afternoons, and the weather looks perfect. This is a great show in a very nice town, and as you find just about everywhere in our hobby, the people are great. The Sunday emphasis on boating is enjoyed by all, as Lake Pend Oreille and it’s main tributary Pend Oreille River make for super boating.
So many shows, so little time off. I really need to retire so I can do a show circuit. The header could be from any boating community from Maine to MI to CA. Great picture! As for the show its great when the host town gets into it.
Hey, Rick, I’am RETIERED and there still is not enough time to get to all these great classic events. We are off to the town of St. Clair, Mi tomorrow, for thier great show, then to Whitehall, MI next weekend, then, Traverse City, Mi for Boats on the Boardwalk, then, Hessells, Mi, then the Lyman Owners show, in Ohio, then, the Century Boat Club show in Manistee, Mi, AND THEN to TALBLE ROCK…
See not enough time, cause I could be at 30 other shows during this time frame, if I could be at more than one place at a time, lol.
Oh well, we got all winter to pay off the credit card bills…
See ya on the water.
Hmmm – Whitehall, eh? I’ll be coming through there on the way home from vacation on 7/21. Looks like I’ll have to stop and check it out.
I’m looking forward to seeing you again in St. Clair this weekend.
Dennis is still on back pain meds from the last show! HA
Thanks for running our promo. It looks to be a great weekend coming up.
I’ve got to tell you that I cannot quit looking at that header shot this morning. Beautiful!! A very calm relaxing feeling comes over you as you look at it and you can almost feel the sun warming the back of your neck. I hope WB plans on publishing the header shots someday.
A calendar of the header shots is currently available in the online store. Just ask Phil how to access it.
Phil- Where the heck is the online store??
A fantasy on-line store? Kind of like Victoria’s Secret only different…
The store’s physical location from where the products ship is located on the western shore of the virtual lake where we had our winter get-together. If coming by boat use the range lights to keep in deep water.
Thanks Wes. You are spot on… That image was shot at around 6:00 AM just after sunrise and it was already 75-80 degrees on the water.
For some of the shots that morning Alex & I had to sit in his 25′ Sportsman, with the engine off in the perfectly calm water and wait for the fog to lift to get the shot.
It was quite an experience. And yes, we have more images…
RR-CG I love the way the light and water make the header look like lapstrake, no matter it still rules. Love the boathouse it has everything, Cribs, metal bulkhead and plenty of line to help hold it up if needed, a nice collection of fenders and the part that makes me envious.. an ice supply a few steps away.
Another show this weekend for the big boys
