Antique & Classic Boat Images From The 2011 Lake Hartwell Antique Boat Festival – Part 2
On Thursday and Friday, with the help of Chris Smith and his Sea Skiff, Robert Miracle arranged to photograph some of the boats that were on hand for the 2011 Lake Hartwell Antique Boat Festival in South Carolina. Robert then loads the images on to his Miracle Photography SmugMug Gallery offering them for sale to the public and kindly shares the images with Woody Boater, so we can share them with you.
The problem I am faced with, is that I like so many of the images it’s difficult for me to decide which images to publish for the Live-ish report. So I thought it would be easiest to feature some of Robert’s images that we think best represents the boats, then you can decide which images you like to see the best… You can click on the image to enlarge it.
The first series of shots is of “It’s Someday” Art Hampton’s very cool 1958 19′ Chris-Craft Capri. I love the transom shots (like the opening shot) which highlights the rear deck, the classic blond tones combined with the symmetrical planking and deck seams flowing towards the transom.
The classic Chris-Craft Capri looks good in the water regardless if it’s moving or just stationary at an idle in the water.
The images of Art Hampton in his Capri project a feeling of enjoyment and relaxation as he cruises down the lake.
Robert captured some great images of “Mar-Be-Gln” an elegant 1963 28′ homebuilt cruiser.
“Mar-Be-Gln” is owned by Glenn & Pat Warnock from nearby Anderson, South Carolina. With Roberts help, we are going to learn more about this beautiful cruiser and her history. A classic home built cruiser that has survived almost 50 years is sure to have a great history and story to tell – and we are all ears…
When ever I see a nicely preserved or restored wooden cruiser on the lake, it appears inviting… sending the message “Welcome Aboard.”
Since we first met Robert & Linda Miracle and had an opportunity to feature their wonderful photography on Woody Boater, we have been attracted to the beauty and classic lines of Alan & Faye Smith’s 1957 Chris-Craft Sea Skiff. The Miracle’s are also attracted to the Sea Skiff because they have hundreds of photos of the boat sprinkled throughout their gallery, from as far back as 2009. “Smithskiff” is once again on hand at the Lake Hartwell event this weekend and Robert Miracle captured these fresh images of the boat on Thursday.
Some classic boats are simply naturals in front of the camera, it’s almost like they sense when the camera is out, and they move to the head of the line for that one perfect shot… I guess it helps when you have Alan Smith confidently at the controls for those close in shots.
Alan and Faye Smith often contribute short stories, reports from the shows and boating information with Woody Boater, which we very much appreciate.
