Are You Going To Clayton In August 3-5? We Are And Will Be Reporting Live!

The entire area is dripping in history

Last year we had such a great time at the big Clayton Show, we are headed back this year. And this time we are showing up even earlier so we can visit the entire area. We also are excitied to announce that Phil Andrews from New Zealand will be joining us as will some other regular Woody Boaters. It looks like it might become a fun Woody Boater “thing” Whatever a “thing” is.

Boat rides?

Great auction

The flea market is the best in the country

The best of the best is there

The area architecture is pure Classic boat style

The Museum, is THE Museum in the country and worth a visit.

Come on!

I dont think we will be bringing a boat though, but will have a small tent to hang out in. And no, we wont be selling t shirts. Sorry, we would spend all day in the tent, and 99% of the fun is the museum and area. So? Got plans to go?

A group of WoodyBoaters from the Michigan chapter stayed in Clayton and cruised the Thousand Islands for three days last July. Great boating area and we spent a morning touring the museum. The ABM folks were terrific and also helped us plan our cruising routes. Planning on going back next year when they host the 2019 ACBS International event. Tied up this year getting ready for WoodyBoaters to visit us in Port Huron!

Ive been here twice the last time maybe 5 years ago and the history is everywhere, museum is first class, area is beautiful and will go back again. Make sure to have breakfast at the quaint Koffee Kove in downtown Clayton, good food and even better coffee. Also visited boldt castle the last time and it was interesting but disappointed the boat trip from downtown did not take us to see the boathouse, I think that was another trip. One negative of being on the water for us was getting a phone call and the signal bounced off the canadian towers so when I received my bill a couple of weeks later that 7 minute call cost something like $28.00. Phone service suggested I turn off my phone if I went to the area again. Have a great time.

Matt, if you have a place to tie up a boat, and you want to see the islands from the water, I can probably bring up the Penn Yan for a day or two. With advance notice, I can even clean it out a bit first! Let me know.

There is no baseball bat on the boat! It is called The Persuader. It is used to persuade the fish to stop flopping around. It can persuade other people as well. And no, that won’t get cleaned.

Just 1 1/2 hr from my house, I rarely miss it. Back in the day you could get some real deals at the auction, not so much now. It’s fun to look though.

Used to go every year back in the days when Bo Collins and Bill Danforth were in charge..It was great then and am sure it still is….It can be fun even without a boat but in the past some of the locals were quite friendly and boat rides were offered. Wish we could go this year.
