Boat Show Weekend! Hopatcong, And St Michaels And My Back Yard.

Is that a Phillips head or Fearson?

I thought I would never say this, but I am looking forward to some good old crappy dock shots! This weekend two shows are happening here in the mid atlantic area, and I won’t be there. But hopefully you will be, and if you can’t, we do have reporters at both events so you will be able to be there in an ish way. Did that all make sense? It had some loop like elements for sure.

St Michaels Maryland. This is going to be a Huge year there

Lake Hopatcong NJ – The Prototype Cobra will be there for its debut

Anyway, in our little community this is getting back to a sorta normal. And that is heartwarming and hopeful. We here at Woody Boater.. Okay that was the Royal we, are burned out of Sweet Pea and dog photos. The Railway as cool as it is, is getting to the point where I am can do a story on a light bulb cage.

This weekend is Fathers Day, and I am never sure why shows are on Fathers Day, but they are, and to be honest, I want to be around my family with my family on that day. And this year is a whopper for the Boatress and I. Both sons and there significant others are here. For the first time together in years. Maybe 5 years? Our little family is all in one spot together and there is a deep comfort in that. So it’s boating and summer joy family style for me.

Stay tuned for fingers on lenses, dock shots and people bending over! It’s Summer 2021! Wooohoooo

Hi Matt – I get your situation, both son’s home from far away. Should make for a GREAT family weekend!

Here is my take on why Father’s Day weekend is a good call for a boat show.

Usually (not always) Dad is the one excited about going to an antique / classic boat show. Any other weekend his vote could very easily be trumped (not Donald) by the other members of the family in favor of some flower show, little league game, butt scratching contest, or even watching the grass grow, but on Father’s Day weekend the question often comes up. What do you want to do this weekend? Who is going to argue when Dad says: I want to go to the boat show.

    Bring on the shows!!

I get that bigtime. I like having my kids with me and they don’t want to drive 10 hrs to go to anything! Ha

Up here in God’s Country (Northern Minnesota) we have the 34th Annual Whitefish Chain Classic Boat Show this Saturday the 19th. I have had to cut off registrations for boats and our Friday night Captain’s dinners. We have over 60 boats registered and over 90 people signed up for dinner – both records. If you are in the area, please stop by the Fabulous Moonlite Bay for all of the fun. Boat parade is at 4pm.

Another show in Crosslake, MN, at Moonlight Bay Family Restaurant this coming Saturday ( June 19, 2021 ) – I think they’re expecting 50 or more boats. Hopefully Dane with be there to take pictures again – he’s awesome.

Troy nailed it – stuff dads like to do gets scheduled for Fathers’ Day weekend! Boat shows, car shows. ball games & races.

And as Matt notes, Fathers’ Day is a time for family to gather & enjoy fun activities.

Like Matt’s crew, my dad isn’t into an OH to IL trip. So I’ll miss seeing him this weekend. But my husband, son, his wife, her parents & sisters and our grandson will be together! VSCDA hosts vintage races at Blackhawk Farms Raceway every year on Fathers’ Day weekend. Photo of my son & grandson there last year, makes me think we should start doing an annual family picture there.

The Presque Isle Harbor wooden boat show is this coming Saturday the 19th. If your in the area you should stop in. This Friday and Saturday show is a very welcoming show with a run around Grand Lake Friday afternoon. Then a great potluck Friday evening at the historic Presque Isle Lodge. Saturday is the show open to the public at the Harbor marina. Public and Skipper voting with awards about 3:30 pm. Just a nice show.
