Breaking News – Fellow Woody Boater Arlon Hibbert Wins Saturday’s Dry Rot Poker Run
On Saturday afternoon, aboard his 1947 16′ Gar Wood Ensign named “The Other Woman” – Fellow Woody Boater Arlon Hibbert won the award for “Best Time” at the 2011 Woodies Over The Water Poker Run in Idaho. The Poker Run is just one of the many activities during this weekend’s Priest Lake Dry Rot Show & Parade in Northern Idaho, which is hosted by the Inland Empire and Columbia Willamette ACBS Chapters.
Fellow Woody Boater & Northern Idaho Reporter Wes Yandt sent us this great report from Priest Lake on Saturday night, so take it away Wes…
“Man did we have a great day at the Dry Rot Poker Run today! Carol and Mike “Hutch” Hutchison out did themselves again this year putting together a great Poker Run, but Carol had a special treat for all of us. She guaranteed perfect weather and boy did she deliver. It was an absolutely awesome boating day on beautiful Priest Lake. It started with a very early, foggy morning run in the “Uncle Bob” enjoying the flat water.”
After everyone prepared their classic boats, we all gathered down the lake at the Blue Diamond Marina for a great lunch and the start of the annual Poker Run, which is a popular event every year.

“Hutch” is the Official Chief Starter for the Poker Run, and if you step out of line, or try to pick up your envelope before your designated starting time, you get a BLAST from his bull horn. “Hutch” runs a tight ship… (Texx)
We ran all over the lake with 6 card stops and many cleaver little clues to get us from point A to B.

The finish line was at Dick and Louise Werner’s beautiful cabin on Priest Lake. The winner of the “Best Time” was Arlon Hibbert with his young hottie crew helping him with navigation. The Best Poker Hand went to Brain Fair and his daughter.
We then had a great dinner hosted by the Werner’s which is an anuual tradition at the Dry Rot, and then watched the sun set on Chimeny Rock across the way form the Werner’s cabin. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Tomorrow will be the boat show at Elkins Resort in the morning and then a lunch and boat show at Hills Resort down the lake. – Wes Yandt
