Clayton 2009, This Show Had It All, Even A Neon Rainbow.

What a weekend. 10 hrs of driving, 2 days of drooling only to be finished off with 10 hrs of driving. Alan Jackson showed up and stole the show in his Burger yacht. The boats at the show were amazing, no duds or boats you can see in other places. And dear god. Lyman’s… This years theme was boats made in the 1000 island region. To top off the entire show a boat ride with ACBS former president Gene Porter and the Current ACBS President’s wife Louise in his 15 ft Lyman. It was the perfect day for a wonderful 2 hr tour of the area. Gene grew up there and was able to point out every rock…. That was worth the trip alone. More later.

Gene Porters very nice 15 ft LymanOne very sweet Garwood out on the absolutely perfect water of the St Lawence. The auction went as expected. Huge crowd, and some exciting moments. Alan Jackson’s Gar Wood Speedster did sell. 90-100K on the phone after the reserve was not met, his XK-19 did not sell, neither did the small 16 foot barrel, but the crap U22 did go for I think 2800… with a nice trailer. So that was a deal. Several other boats went in the 8K range and the usual 1500 small boats. And $800 for an early Sea Skiff with a hole in the transom and no trailer.

Quite a Show! Gene Porter's Lyman is amazing. What?…no photos or interview with Allen Jackson? I'm sure he was well isolated from the crouds of fans. Thanks for the up-date.

No, not yet, sorry. I met with the judges the night of the judging and did not want to spoil the surprise so i did not push it. But there was a tie of sorts.

Woody Boater you came through. You got a taste of the River in a Lyman boat no less. For a moment you were living my dream. Thanks for all the great shots.

I am a new fan of Lyman's big time. I even got a T shirt…. Dang! There was a a great deal on a 24 footer that had been completely done and sold for roughly 18K… It was beautiful and had 5 different folks on it. Antique Boat Center handled the sale.
