Columbia Willamette ACBS Chapter on Paradise Patrol at the Portland Boat Show

Thanks to Fellow Woody Boater Mike Mayer from Lake Oswego Boat Company we are Live-ish from the Portland Boat Show in Oregon.

The nice folks at the Columbia Willamette ACBS Chapter are once again working hard to represent the antique & classic boat hobby at this year’s big show.

The same sea of blue carpet and drapes that they have at the Chicago Boat Show as seen here on Woody Boater yesterday. Is that the correct color of carpet for all boat shows or the fake reproduction aftermarket carpet that the modern boat guys use? Hmmm

The classic Century Boats are always popular in the Portland area, in this case out numbering Kelvin Williamson’s freshly varnished 1956 21′ Chris-Craft Capri 3 to 1… Whats up with that? Just kidding guys, they all look beautiful!

Greg Bateman from Ryan Trailers in nearby Estacada, Oregon is on hand at the Portland Expo Center featuring his line of trailers for both the antique & classic boat market and the modern, contemporary boats as well. Woody Boater will be doing a feature story from behind the scenes at Ryan Trailers in February, so stay tuned. The story will be called “Ryan Trailers – Unplugged”

So if you are in the Portland area this weekend, stop by the Expo Center and check it out. You can take the kids and get a Chicago Style Hot Dog or Sausage Dog at the show as long as your not planning to stay over night in your Kom-Pak Trailer. Does this mean that they have Portland Style Hot Dogs & Sausage Dogs at the Chicago Boat Show this weekend? Hmmm

It’s a big show this year so don’t forget to take your classic Thirst Aid Fluid Replenishment Container, these are quickly becoming a fashion statement at antique & classic boat shows around the country!

Ok so Im looking forward to the story on Ryan trailers but better leave that Bateman guy unplugged as it looks like he’s loud enough sounding off at the little old guy. Maybe he touched a trailer with Extraordinare hotdog sauce on his hand?
The really great thing about these posts from Portland is there seems to be alot of Century boats there. Maybe that explains the OR prefix on my Resorters registration? While Im on the subject I wonder if anyone out there in Woody Boaterville knows or remembers the owners or my boat. Its a long shot but hey…. It’s a 58 Resorter16 reg OR 897 RJ and was named ‘ Noble Word ‘ when I bought her.

Noble Word was bought and owned by 2 gentlemen as a project. I don’t remember the exact condition of the boat when they had aquired it, but they had gone through a restain and varnish replacement. I do not recall if the interior had been replaced or the chrome. Best bet would be to get ahold of Mike Green @ Maritime Classics. He had a hand in the process and could answer alot more n
