THIS WEEKEND, WHILE MANY EAST COAST BOATERS ARE BATTENING DOWN THE HATCHES the nice folks from the SoCal Chapter ACBS will be basking in the sunshine on the Pacific Ocean.

From AccuWeather.com – Flooding from Hurricane Joaquin will impact areas from South Carolina to Massachusetts even though the hurricane is unlikely to make landfall in the United States.

People should not let their guard down due to a shifting track of the hurricane as the risk to lives and property in this complex situation remains high.

A copious amount of moisture will unload very heavy rainfall along parts of the Atlantic Seaboard and the Appalachians into early next week. Strong winds, coastal flooding and beach erosion will occur and could be very damaging even in the absence of a landfall. – AccuWeather.com

Southern California ACBS Chapter Fall Gathering
San Diego Yacht Club – October 2-4

Once again the SoCal Chapter of ACBS proves who has the biggest cajones! Who else but these daredevils of the deep blue sea would not only put their precious wooden boats in saltwater, but use a crane to do it!

For the SoCal Chapter guys, salt water is a way of life.

But if you use enough Saltaway and double check your lifting rings it’s definitely worth it! Where else can you zoom by real Navy aircraft carriers, high speed SEAL delivery boats, submarines, classic tall ships, the world famous Hotel Del Coronado, and the beautiful San Diego skyline all in a couple of hours!

Please join us for our 13th annual Fall Gathering of Classic Boats in San Diego – October 2-4, 2015.

The event will be held at the San Diego Yacht Club. The front guest dock will be reserved for our boats (and we have rooms reserved at the Club for dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings).

Additionally, the Southern California ACBS Chapter will be holding it’s fall board meeting on Saturday at the Yacht Club.

San Diego October weather is perfect for small boats on the bay, especially in the morning and late afternoons and we plan to hold group cruises on Saturday and Sunday.

For those who prefer to display their boat on a trailer, provisions can be made to position trailered boats in front of the Club that weekend. We have made arrangements with the SDYC to store your trailers and to provide a wash-down area after you haul them out.

You can launch your boat from the Shelter Island boat ramp (map enclosed) or from the SDYC crane (lifting capacity 6000 lbs). We will provide assistance at the SDYC crane from 12 pm till 4 pm Friday.

For accommodations, we have a block of 10 rooms set aside at the Bay Club Hotel on Shelter Island. Please call their Reservations Department direct @ 800-672-0800.
