Early morning run
Around here on the Chesapeake bay we are in the throws of Rock Fish Season. The water cools down and the fish get feisty. Although this year the water is not so cool, and the fish are more North, so that means some very early morning boat rides. The good news is The Boatress’s partner in Real Estate happens to also be one the areas top charter captains. Captain Ryan Rogers of Midnight Sun Fishing Charters, knows the spots and we were on the hunt. To add to the fun, his insane boat was built by Larry Jennings, who is the owner of the former Rice Marine Railway. As in Sweet Pea’s birth place. We also had some great friends on board, who never got bored for sure.

I’m not big on fishing, but I sure would be up for that trip. Great photos and a good time!
What’s the story on that big sportfisher? Looks like a hell of a boat.
This might change your mind Greg. 😎. By the way, incredible transom shot as were many others. Looks like some Mimosa’s were consumed making for a very mellow trip (and a nap later on).
This is where Sandi and Suzy differ. Sandi wants NOTHING to do with fish. Catching, cleaning, eating, NOTHIN’
Looks like a good time. How did you keep from falling in getting that stern shot Matt? On a sad note on this date in 1975 the Great Lakes freighter Edmund Fitzgerald sank in Lake Superior, claiming the lives of 29 men. You long time WB commenters know that I post this every year on this date. Those of us that grew up on and around the Great Lakes remember the Fitz, and her tragic demise. Thankfully this was the last ore carrier that was lost on the Great Lakes. Let us never forget her.
Not for the picture
Now damn spell check
Thanks for that comment Mark.
It is a day to be remembered and pay tribute to the great Fitz and her crew that perished with her that horrible night. They will always be part of Great Lakes maritime history.
RIP Captain Ernest McSorley and crew
Great story and great pictures. It appears a good time was had by all!
