Gull Lake And Lake George Show “Show Down” This Weekend-ish!

“VAIL” CARL MAMMEL’S BEAUTIFUL SCRIPPS POWERED 24′ GAR WOOD UTILITY
GULL LAKE CLASSIC BOAT SHOW AT BAR HARBOR, MINNESOTA
DANE ANDERSON PHOTO
Well, if you are going to spend the weekend sitting by the cable box, you are in luck, cause we are having a classic boat show show down! That’s right, we have livei-sh reports coming in from Team Texx and Dane Anderson from Gull Lake. And… fingers crossed, Kent O. Smith Jr and yours truly.. Team Smith from Lake George. Both Dane and Kent know how to take a killer photo.. Texx will no doubt pull out all the stops and report on the source and grain count of the mahogany used on such and such a boat. How does he know that stuff. Me? I will just copy and paste whatever Kent sends, and add a kinda funny line to it..
Either way the real winner is you for deciding to just sit on your aft and look at Woody Boater. So stay tuned cause its gonna be A Show Show Down this weekend.. Unless the reports come in later.. then it will go into Monday.. Maybe Tuesday..
Kent O. Smith and Dane Anderson are both CANON shooters, like two gunslingers with Colt 45’s ready to shoot anything that catches their keen eye…
So although the photos will be freshly shot today on their respective lakes, and we haven’t seen them yet, we know the photos will be awesome.
Texx (Nikon shooter)
Team Texx needs to fire the first bullet… “Do they have any 33′ Liberty powered Baby Gars on Lake George?” (Just sayin’)
Well, I guess I can cancel the strippers and just come here for my weekend entertainment.
Personally, I am a cannon shooter (I wonder why my neighbors hate me?) but I take pictures with a Nikon. I always thought Canon’s were for making copies.
…
m-fine, since you had to cancel the strippers…..
Guess I’m not invited with my iPhone camera? Can’t go to a gun fight with a pea shooter.
Rick – you’re always welcome on my crew…
Bob, that is some nice looking bacon!
Rick, iPhone cameras are perfectly acceptable. It is more skill and technique than the tool. Alex Watson used his phone to take some great photos of a dog in Tavares that would have been hard to duplicate with a big SLR.
The biggest part of the technique I’m working on is keeping my fingers out of the picture.
I think a number of people have a similar problem. They line up a perfect shot of a wood boat, and instead of a finger, a girl in a bikini always seems to get in the way. At least that is what I heard.
68 Resorter FG, Lake of the Ozarks MO. Wow! This is your best cover photo in a long time. A 40 foot runabout. Nice rig. M&M
Wow. Lockpat II as today’s header. All 40′ L.O.A. of it!
I acquiesce. It IS bigger.
But Sans Souci (translation “No Worries”) as the name? Heck, I’da gone all out and named it “Holmes Chamberlain.”
Alex, as a Michiganer (sp?) you should know that in this case Sans Souci was Dick Locke’s port of call at Harson’s Island.
Brian, I did not know that. I have yet to visit Harsons or Algonac. I’m actually Canadian-born, and emigrated to the U.S. in ’92. My familiarity with Michigan is mainly Petoskey and northward. The older I get, the more I relate to Yoopers.
Thanks Alex, but I,ll leave it up to my brother John Holmes
Too fabulous to talk about!! (Take your Pick!)!
Still no report from Les Cheneaux/Hessel. No one was there?
Here you go, Bill…
My Hessel 2014 album is on WoodyBoater’s Facebook page:

I thought we were going to get live-ish reports. Is there a problem with Internet access in Minesota and Lake George today? Next time I am sticking with the strippers!
It is Minn and lake george.. Dial up is still a new concept.
Dial up?
After what I saw today at Bar Harbor, Scripps is a new concept!
They could draw the pictures on papyrus and send them down the Hudson to New York.
