I Have PTLDSD Post Traumatic Lake Dora Stress Disorder! Do You?

Karen out on Lake Harris for an amazing ride and lunch on Sunday! It was all over in just hours. So sad!
Is it just me, or did you want to just turn around and head back to Florida for another week, or 52? Sure the weather was great here in VA, 75 yesterday. But no boat in the water yet, and friends. Lots of friends. Its a funny thing though, if you go back to the show area on Monday, it’s very quiet and not the same either. The Lake Dora show is a place and time thing. When all the pent up need for sunshine and friendship all happens in one magical weekend. And that is intoxicating, and very rough when its over and you realize that all you did was briefly, too briefly trick your brain into thinking its a perfect summer day! And little things around the office are reminders of the wonderful time, and I can’t work. Is it just me? Here are some wonderful memories of the week that I could relive every day!

Passing The Palm Gardens and Pals from Brightworks Mystic.

Liv’n the full throttle life, even at 500 RPM!

That windshield is a very nice idea. Not original, but way functional and smart

Great friends!

Great photo ops! Live life full throttle. Photo M-fine

More throttle

Adding quality hours to the hour meter

Scarlet ran like a champ!

The Boatress and Karen on the Dora Canal.

Walking around the show and seeing cool stuff! Now I walk around the office looking for potato chips! Ughhhh

It doesn’t help that Troy is still there and sending photos every ten minutes.
Today as part of your therapy, please share your memories that haunt you!
I now know where Palm Gardens is. Next year a visit for sure. What atmosphere on that canal. Super memories.
I am glad you got together with John Zidner. BTW you didn’t have to buy lunch.
Morning in Palatka on the St. Johns River Cruise!
Sunsets from our room at Lakeside Inn Mt. Dora.
Silver Glen Spring!
Censored for the family audience
Troy is actually working while there.
Ya know, people who buy T-shirts might also buy shorts…
Friends!
Friends!
Friends!
Friends!
Friends!
Wait was there ever a time that Karen was not on a boat?
And more Friends!
You could get a little shack to stay in.
Or just bring everything with.
The real reason most people go.
Why they don’t stay.
What eventually happens.
Why I was really glad to return. Probably the only reason.
Finding Texx even though I did not think he was there.
Sending pictures of dead Centurys in the Dora Canal to the sexiest man in Woodyboaterville!
More Friends and mentors.
Not much mentoring any more…just having fun with good people. It was a great event.
After several years of absence my wife even said she enjoyed “kicking tires” one more weekend.
Got a ride on the coolest work boat in Florida with more Friends! The Wise family.
Even leaving Dora is COOL!
Always exciting. It seems like we see y’all every year at the ramp. Safe travels. See you next year
By doing our long version of the Saint Johns River Cruise and several other activities, we put 26 running hours on Nothin’ Fancy from Sunday to Saturday. That included time for all the other things that the festival entails, but “go boating” John Rothert would be proud.
We saw lots of people coming and going and using their boats during the show, and several giving rides. A great way to run a large event and a super job by Sunnyland Chapter.
The girl on the cover photo is beautiful!
Back to the grindstone here at the shop…
The boat was nice too
Zoomed in
That cup I was drinking from in Troy’s photo came from a Sunday boat trip on the St. Johns to where it dumps into the ocean. Through Jacksonville and about 20 more miles. Safe Harbor in Mayport. Neat trip and great food. Probably how I brought 6 extra pounds home.
And if you have boat issues there is a dry dock on the way.
Great River Cruise, Great Food, Great Show, Great Time, Great Friends, New and Old!!! We will be back.
I saw Karen get off the boat several times…mostly to get a meal or a drink.
I only had a brief visit with the Wise family and a short ride on their workboat this trip. They are good people who I would like to spend more time with. I didn’t get enough time with Troy and Sandi, the Harisons, Jim Frechette, Jim Staib, Jimmy and Shannon, Scott and Shannon, Matt and Susie, John and, and, and…. I really is the people in the hobby that make the trip worthwhile.
Tobler thinks I should rent a dog friendly place next year and bring him. He also thinks Jackson should come and stay with us. He thinks the two of them could have a good time raiding the chicken on a stick tent together.
My wife is giving retirement notice this morning. So we will have more time for boats..44 yrs less a month. C u all next yr. Bill
Guess where this was
found it
All day on the river with good friends. 5 star dining afterward (Angels in Palatka).
Troy was here……he may have had a little help.
Mr. M-Fine hasn’t been here…..yet
Mostly, I remember a very happy wife.
yes, I have that disorder I guess……event just flew by. But there is next year! and shows in between….and friends to catch up with as summer arrives. I am GOING BOATING!
Miss yall,
John in Va.
Windshield on continental (noted as not original) would be if originally had a sedan roof that had been removed.
Remember some are still enjoying the sun with the Northbound cruise. Maybe next year I will stay longer and do the North bound trip and take in the float plane festival the weekend after the show.
Palm Gardens is the best!! Thanks Matt for turning us on to it!! Great times😎
Started heading home today, got to Savannah, GA. This is what we found on weather dot com and mow we are going to have to stop and spend a couple of extra nights with Ellen and Dr. V P J L JAM.
