And the fall leaves up north are always a perfect time to go Woody Boating. But dang! It’s Labor Day.. I mean in Hessel its winter all ready! They had there week of summer back in July.

So we certainly hope you are going to milk this weekend for all its worth. We here at Woody Boater we are gearing up for our “Live” coverage of Skaneateles big ACBS International Show. We hope to see you there, boat or no boat, this is one of the huge shows of the year. If you live near the Northeast, its a must go. The best of the best show up ready to have a great time and compete for the top boat of the year. You can click here and find out more. Hotels are few and far between, and not for the faint of heart in the money area. But this is one of the most stunning lakes in NY and one of the nicest most helpful groups in the country.

After Labor Day most of the yahoos are off the water which makes for safer boating. Everyone enjoy yourselves.

If the hotel availability and pricing in Skaneateles is an issue, and you don’t mind a short drive, it is not far from the town of Auburn or for that matter, even Syracuse and Geneva could work.

You will want to hit up that blanket link before coming. It could be 75 and sunny, or 35 and cloudy, or perhaps both a mere 15 minutes apart.

Thanks CK. I really enjoyed capturing the moment. That boat, Kasota, in an original Les Cheneaux boat. It’s been in the family for generations. Kasota has several meanings. I looked it up online. In Dakota, it means “a cleared place.” I also read where it means “cloudy sky.” The boat is owned by the Birkmeier family. They say it means “clear water.” That sounds like the best definition of them all, given our area. Anyhow, around here it’s just another 22U being used as it was intended. Apparently the family fishes from it regularly. In this pic, he’s fishing for minnows so he can fish for perch, from the same boat.

What matters most about a boat is not how accurately preserved it is, or how expertly restored it is, but how it is used.

A classic boat used as it was originally intended and as it has been used for 70 years or so… Now that’s cool!
