Live-ish From The Lake Arrowhead Boat Show – The Gang’s All Here!

,

The 27th Annual Lake Arrowhead Antique & Classic Wooden Boat Show hosted by the Southern California Chapter ACBS was a big hit, “Bigger and Better Than Ever” just as they predicted.

A great selection of antique & classic boats, woody cars, and lots of spectators were on hand in the majestic mountains of Southern California for the big show. And another bonus, many of the nice folks from the Antique & Classic Boat Society – Board of Directors and HQ that were in Long Beach attending their Quarterly Meeting came up to Lake Arrowhead for the day on Saturday. And, as shown above, some even got a VIP boat ride on Lake Arrowhead with fellow Woody Boater Brian Robinson aboard “Truant II” a 1939 28′ Gar Wood Custom Runabout.

Dave Anderson from the SoCal Chapter ACBS was the Show Chairman this year, and filed this report.

27th Annual Lake Arrowhead Antique & Classic Boat Show

Texx – Wonderful show, weather cooperated, 70 something this afternoon 34 boats plus so call it close to 45 with static display. An abundance of woodie cars from the 19 somethings to the 50’s. Best of all, the boat owners… What an eclectic group of folks, we run the gamut here in SoCal.

You know the names and some you don’t know. The Schinnnnnnneerrrrrrs, Wrightsssssssssss, Robinsons (Tim, Brian and Scooter). Boat names like Ol Glory,(Ouray!) Friendship, Serpent, Okeydokey, Fatal Attraction, Knotty but Nice, Sweet Caroline, Presto, Splinter, Happy Days, Sweet Pea, Just to name a few.

Great afternoon in historic Lake Arrowhead! On to our awards Banquet this evening (which was Saturday night) with a bunch of the people from the ACBS HQ and Board of Directors that came up from Long Beach for the day. A grrrrrrreat ACBS SO CAL SHOW with a tonnage of foot traffic enjoying our boats as well.
Dave Anderson – Southern California Chapter ACBS / Fellow Woody Boater

Special “Thanks” also goes out to new fellow Woody Boater Maggi Cassell for sending us the photos from the big show on Saturday. Here’s a few more…

The award for overall Best of Show this year went to “Happy Days” a 1954 Chris-Craft 19′ Racing Runabout, freshly restored by Don & Molly Hardy from McCall Boat Works in McCall, Idaho. “Happy Days” is owned by Ed Alexander from Lomita, California. Congratulations to Ed Alexander, and to Don & Molly Hardy for another winning restoration.

Thanks Dave for your report and to all the nice folks and the volunteers at the Southern California Chapter ACBS for making this show a “Bigger & Better” success this year.

Very nice coverage for a fun show! I’m honored to have gotten TWO photo’s of 50cc, our ’50 Chris Craft kit boat! The big smiles come standard with every ride!

Thanks Roy – I noticed those big smiles too, it looked like you guys were having lots of fun. That’s what it’s all about.

By the way, the Chris-Craft Kit Boat looks great! We don’t get a chance to see them at the boat shows very often.

Great show this year!!! Some of the Cris Crafts were absolutely amazing especially the 54′ Chris Craft. I noticed the words Lake Almanor painted ont he back. My family has been camping there every year for the past 35 years! It seems weird to travel 600 miles to camp at another lake but Lake Almanor is well worth it!!!
