Seems appropriate to have a show on Moonlite Bay on the longest day of the year. A huge thanks to Dane Anderson for sharing some very diverse boats for us to gander at. The evolution of whats at boat shows now is getting very very cool. I LOVE IT! Thanks Dane for the inspiration on this Summer Monday
Sailing along on Moonlite Bay
Saturday was the 38th Annual Antique and Classic Boat Rendezvous at Moonlite Bay on Cross Lake. Mother Nature cooperated and gave us a beautiful sunny day. Bill Terry (BT in the comment section), and his crew did their normal outstanding job hosting the show and keeping the spectator crowd serviced with food and drink. There are also a strong group of local residents who help out with dock assistance and the awards program.

I didn’t get registered this year, but plan to swing by in my boat from the water along with my dad!
Back in the 1980s I stored a Super Sport for a young guy, just like the one pictured. I would go out to the barn in the dead of winter to check on the stuff I stored, all for other folks, and would dream of one day owning a boat like that. Dreams…anyway the show in Algonac is coming up! I love the photos Dane! Thanks Matt!

Great pix! Is that “lil daddy” an Ancarow? Patrician sounds like one of the names that old company would have used. And to be sure that is a boat as odd and new age as he built. ? A VA boat builder. John in Va.

Two more comments: Yes, Del is the kind of space age fiberglassics. And Dane and Matt both glossed over the fact that a vintage pontoon was being displayed and judged at the show. Yes, it’s coming.

I didn’t feature it in photos this year but it has been featured several times over the past few years.
Del’s restoration on the Vali IV was extensive and impressive. When Del rescued that boat it was “outstanding in it’s field” Del just got the motor hung and hasn’t water tested it. There will be a followup later this summer with more details.

That Whaler was from a guy who lives on the lake and whose woodie broke down and I told him to fill his slip with his back up boat. Actually, a pretty cool boat. 🙂
Oh Dane! You always know how to capture that perfect moment. What a fun show. The folks at Moonlight Bay really put on a spectacular show!
