Sons of Varnish Crew Spotted At Riva Days In Sarnico, Lake Iseo, Italy
As we reported a few weeks ago from the Lake Tahoe Concours, where they recently celebrated the magnificent Italian made Riva Aquarama marque… Now a group of over 30 Riva enthusiasts from the United States have arrived in Sarnico, Lake Iseo, Italy to attend the RHS 2012 Riva Days event which is hosted by the Riva Historical Society.
This is also a very special meeting to celebrate Carlo Riva’s 90th birthday, 170 years since the Riva yard was founded and 50 years since the birth of the Riva Aquarama!
Fellow Woody Boater and Riva aficionado Marty Feletto is in attendence and feeding us a few sneak peek photos from Italy and Monaco. Fellow Woody Boater & Sons of Varnish crew Hamster is in charge of the beverages… One of Hamsters many areas of expertise, which include renaissance man and restaurateur.
The celebrations and non-stop activities surrounding the Riva Days events are keeping the participants busy… Here they are at the open house party at RAM (in Sarnico).
RAM is the result of the synergetic efforts developed by the family of Carlo Riva, the Boat Service Group from Sarnico, Rapallo and Monte-Carlo, and is available to those who love and want to go to sea in complete safety and comfort.
RAM was created in 1957, the first of their service and overhaul wanted by Carlo Riva. Since then, RAM technicians have not neglected anything in the restoration project, with the highest level of excellence and quality that have made Riva famous throughout the world: a review of RAM today is unlike any other.
This gala 2012 Riva Days event is being held from August 30th to September 4th at the Lido Nittuno on the shores of beautiful Lake Iseo in the mountains of Northern Italy. Events include lunches & dinners with other RHS members and the Riva family, tours of the Riva Factory, Navigation and Piloting competitions, picnics on the lake, classic race-boat displays and many other wonderful attractions.
And Hamster appears to be holding up well… Nice work buddy!
If we receive any additional photos or updates from the gala event across the pond, we will do our best to get them up live-ish.
And for any of our viewers who are at the big event, let us know how things are going in the commnets section below.

I notice that Hamster is able to drink with either hand, but it seems like he only uses one at a time. Strange.
I half expected to see Cyclone photo shopped in sitting alongside all those Rivas.
Cyclone is resting before her fall photo shoot.
OoooooLaLa! Ooops, wrong language. But you know what I meant!
1am here sitting with Hamster, Ron, the Swedes and my wife Shelly at the bar. All is good.
Watch out for those Swedes Brian! At least that’s what Anders told me once…

It was a great time at the Riva Days Lago di Iseo. We did not let the weather dampen our spirits. Great to see so many Americans there with the rest of the attendees. In all close to 400 people from Countries all over EU.
I even got to spend some time with Carlo Riva. What a very special man.
