Sunnyland Festival Thursday – Strictly Business At The Chris-Craft / Woody Boater Tent

,

Ok – We had the day off on Wednesday enjoying ourselves on Lake Dora, but we were back to work on Thursday setting up the Chris-Craft Antique Boat Club / Woody Boater Tent and “Thayer IV” display… And Mr. Basler, I can assure you it was “Strictly Business” all day!

The boat slips were filling up all day as folks arrived for the boat show, and as usual, there are some awesome looking boats to see… Something for everybody.

On land adjacent to the Chris-Craft Antique Boat Club tent is a super rare 1924 Wise Boat Works 25′ Split Cockpit Runabout that Christopher Wise and his family purchased from the Warner Collection Auction last fall. Originally named “Cherup” this cool boat has quite a history, and now is once again owned by the Wise Family – The same family that originally built the boat in the 1920’s.

You can see the story on the Wise Family boat by clicking here. We are hoping to do a complete feature story on “Cherup” in the near future on Woody Boater, it’s truly an amazing piece of American Boat Building history.

For all the Lyman fans out there, here is an absolutely beautiful big Lyman named “Deja Voom”.

Late this afternoon we stopped in at Rejuvenation Woodworks for the ACBS Symposium / Workshop which was under way. Ths first in a series of symposiums and workshops which are being organized by the ACBS and Dick Werner which was a complete success today, and enjoyed by everyone who attended the sold out event. Great job guys and and big thanks to Richard Arnold at Rejuventation Woodworks and the folks at the Temple of Restoration for helping put on the event.

There is also a nice collection of antique & classic boats for sale at the field of dreams area, including this very nice 1954 Century Resorter.

Friday AM the show officially opens to the public and registered guests… So if you get a chance Boogie Woogie on down to Wooten Park in Tavares and check it out.

For those of you that can’t make it to the show, we will splash a bunch of photos from the Sunnyland Antique Boat Festival on Woody Boater tomorrow night, so stay tuned!

Also, if you were following the comments yesterday, Mike Mayer from Lake Oswego Boat Company never gave up and did finally make it down to Tavares on Thursday morning… Nice work Mike – Were glad you made it!

Hmmm. We seem to have lost the WoodyStock story that was posted after this. I guess just too much varnish fumes.

Matt stay out of that FIELD OF DREAMS but if you do hiest that neat banjo steering wheel for me, it would look good on my racer:):) Hey enjoy that weather, it’s become chilly here. And hit that breakfeast bar a second time at the Mission Inn for me, and drink a gal. of that awsome sweet OJ. We’ll see ya soon.

We had a glitch and the woodystock story was lost sending us into a regroup. All is fixed but it’s official. iPads do not replace laptops.. We have three here but no tether phone or hot spot wifi areas.
