The 19th Annual Portland Antique & Classic Boat Show – This Weekend In The City Of Roses
This weekend the Columbia Willamette Chapter ACBS is presenting the 19th Annual Portland Antique & Classic Boat Show from the Jantzen Bay Marina in Portland, Oregon – Known as the City of Roses. Portland is a wonderful city, situated approximately 70 miles from the Pacific Ocean in a magnificent setting between the sparkling waters of the Columbia and Willamette Rivers. Mount Hood (Elevation 11,240 ft.) is located about 50 miles east-southeast of Portland, on the border between Clackamas and Hood River counties.
Fellow Woody Boaters Kristen & Dick Winn sent us a few photos from the marina on Friday as they were preparing for the big event. This year the chapter decided to relocate the show to the Jantzen Bay Marina, which offers premium docks & facilites, and they are expecting a good turn out of antique & classic boats for this years event.
The show is open to the public at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. A boat parade to Tomahawk Island will begin at 4:00 pm. On Saturday evening, the Dinner & Awards Banquet will be held at the Red Lion Jantzen Beach on Saturday night. The show continues on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Burgees were made by Rick Means for the boat show entrance. The Portland area boasts a number of high quality antique boat restoration shops, one reason why there is such wide range of antique & classic boats in the area. Many of these boats will be on display this weekend for everyone to see and enjoy.
Here’s just a few of the nice folks from the Columbia Willamette Chapter that make this event a success every year. Boat show chairs, Steve Ellwood and John Tyler have done an outstanding job behind the scenes to once again make this a fun, successful event.
Kristen & Dick Winn aboard their cool Hemi powered 1955 20′ Century Coronado. Dick is currently the Treasurer on the ACBS National Board of Directors and Kristen is the President of the Columbia Willamette Chapter. We sincerely appreciate thier commitment and what they both do for the hobby as volunteers.
Even Violet (their puppy) is involved, getting ready for the big show sporting her new period correct swimsuit…
Stay tuned to Woody Boater for more from the 19th Annual Portland Antique & Classic Boat Show… And if your in the area, head down to Jantzen Bay Marina to join in on the fun and check out some very cool boats.
