The Clayton Antique Boat America Auction – This Year It Has A Liscense To Thrill.

, ,

This Auction is always full of fun cool boats set in a great setting in the Thousand Islands durring the big annual show. .

Get out your check books, it’s deal time in Clayton NY.. That’s right. August 6th.. You can drive up with a boat and return with another. Antique Boat America is now taking consignments for the big ..2011 Annual Antique Boat Show And Auction… With over 60 boats planned to be there and over 200 bidders this will be the usal highlite of the Clayton Show. Your boat won’t be alone, several have already jumped in.  Including one very cool 1978 Glastron boat like the one in the James Bond Film. Here she is with a description.

In the movie “Moonraker”, James Bond is chased while driving a Glastron/ Carlson CV23HT boat through the Amazon River. Only 300 of these boats were ever built, and ONLY 3 of those were built with the custom painted silver metalflake gelcoat over gray. Today ONLY 1 of these 5 boats is known to exist and is currently owned by the Ian Fleming Foundation. “Moonraker II” has undergone a comprehensive, better than factory restoration with all new or remanufactured items. This includes a 5.7 Vortec engine with only 4 hours on the engine for sea trials. It also has new risers and exhaust, new gauges, new correct custom paint, new custom interior, new stringers and flooring and a new waterproof engine hatch preventing any water intrusion. The package also includes a refurbished original Glastron dual axle trailer with new paint, new tires, bearings, bunks and lights. Great opportunity to own an iconic piece of 1970's history.

Get this boat and you will get .........Galore!

Or if you are Woody inclined, and who isn’t here. a very nice original big lumpy Sportsman. These are very cool boats..More to come as new boats and info comes in.  If you want to Auction off your boat while you are up there, now is the time to get it up on the web site so folks can start dreaming.

A very cool Sportsman, indeed!

And so the second half of the WoodyBoater year begins, though technically according to best available sources (m-fine from yesterday) not until July 3rd-ish. But here we’ve never worried about things like that, or spelling. LOL Anyway Matt’s looking at 3,000,000 hits? How am I going to do that? Man I’m stressed out already…….wait he means all of us right? Not just me?

Well while we wait for the Clayton show how about the LI Maritime Museum Show in 2 weekends? I don’t know how many Tahoe winners have come out of here. No really I have no clue, could be 0 or 2000. Long way between here and there so that’s why I’ll be road tripping the 15 min to Sayville,NY. Paul if you decide to come I’ve got repair shops lined up all along your route. And the rare (not) little seen (kinda) “Panther” will be there.

Here’s a question for the community. If the boat was built in Nov. of 1950 for the 1951 model year do I list it as a 1950 or 1951? Also what kind of jail time do I get if I shoot at (not hit) my 18yo daughter’s potential suitors?

Rick, just have a full body silhouette target with a certain area blown away on display when he comes to pick her up. It helps to have a list of previous names scratched out and the current boy’s name at the bottom of the list. Worked for our daughter and now our granddaughter (just turned 18).

Matt this in not Fiberglassy Boater…. What is a Glasstron doing on it…

Just kidding it’s a cool boat…. There was a green on at the Buckeye lake show
a few years back… I also knew were an orange one was… don’t know if it is still around…

    Rick,

I think if you shoot at anyone in NY state you are in big trouble. Unless you are a career criminal, in which case you should be fine.

As for the midpoint thing, I must confess I need to calculate the percent of the year all of the time so it stood out that we were at the 5 month mark, not halfway. Since the article lacked a sufficient level of spelling and grammar issues to fit the norm, I figured I’d pick on the math error.

Is there a page counter somewhere on this site so we can all watch the 3,000,000 mark approach. Maybe a package of WoodyWeiners to number 3 mil.?

In Woodyboaterville, its how ever we decide to spell it that day.. Its in our constitution…

Fortunately, our constitution is fast becoming an institution with a lot of aspiration, inspiration, instigation, occassional inflamation, much ratification and very, very little constipation!

Rick – Re what to do to put the run on your 18 year old daughter’s potential suitors?

Don’t shoot him with a gun… Shoot him with your camera, photoshop the image and plaster it all over the Internet! That seems to be a popular thing to do these days if you have some issues with someone.

And then take some shots of the Long Island Maritime Museum boat show and send them to Woody Boater for a live-ish report.

    • Texx
      Texx says:

Oops – I forgot to mention that if you send in a Live-ish report from Long Island your handle can be “Rikk”.

All right The Thousand Islands and 10,000 shoals. My kind of place. It’s lousy with Lymans. Can’t wait. Of course I can’t make it till the third week of August. Always happy to see the pictures though.

As far as the boyfriend and woody boater, send him out with that boat that you have not checked out too closely with the Ace Hardware bucket that also has a whole in it. Please include the proper PFD so he can make it to Canada

Hey that photo of James Bond / Roger Moore in that Glastron / Carlson is a good candidate for a “What’s the Caption” contest.

Is he thinking “Did I remember to install the drain plug?”
