The Next Concept On Indoor Classic Boat Shows, Inspired By The Past!
Well, Indoor Boat Show season is upon us. But we have a great idea here at Woody Boater. Get out the blue tarps and water hose. Cause your gonna need a lot of both. Now, I am thinking of trying this out in the garage to see if it works. Come on.. The Romans did it, and they did it in Boston in 1905. And none of those of those guys had the two magic ingredients. Blue tarps and Duck Tape. That’s right. It can be done. Heck the Antique Boat Center Has A Soaker Tub! We can do it cheaper!

Thanks to the Detroit Public Library for having these images for us to use as a pattern and Bob Kays for finding them. Now if you will excuse me, I need to go do Liposuction on myself with a shop vac! And yes, it’s been done already so I know it works. Just like Boston’s Boat Show!

Uhm…. The Toronto International Boat show has had an indoor lake for many, many years. It is filled directly from Lake Ontario and occupies the area usually reserved for the Toronto Marlies Hockey team (Leafs Jr. club).
In the past, some boats were shown in the lake but now it is mostly used for indoor wake boarding (free to show guests) and demonstrations.

I believe the Romans only flooded the Coliseum 1 or 2 times. Gotta be a reason they didn’t do it more. Same with these former indoor on the water shows.
About three years ago the Minneapolis Boat Show made a “lake” inside the Convention Center for boats to float. It sprung a slow leak during the show and for the remainder of the show they had a crew with a mop and bucket sopping up the mess 24/7! There was a classic boat in the pond along with the Moomba and other watercraft.
The following year they did a “fake lake” with blue tarps on the floor to simulate water. It was poorly done!

Atlanta boat show had a 200,000 gallon wake boarding tank 2 or 3 years ago before the show part of the wall collapsed and dumped 200,000 gallons of water only delayed the opening for 4 hours

Those are easier to dock than our classics, better rudders. I played with those at last years show.

Years ago, my friends and I were going to try the old redneck pool in the pickup with a blue tarp but unfortunately, I’m dyslexic.
Artificial reef. Stock it with fish and charge anglers.

Those indoor pools at boat shows are nice until they go wrong.
