This Saturday, Woody’s & Weiners At Woody Boater Global Headquarters.
Okay, wait, not sure about the name, although it does have a certain something. I think this may be a great name for a regular Woody Boater event. This Saturday, as in this week, the local Tidewater Chapter of the ACBS, and some others are gonna be at the HQ for some fun togetherness, boat talk and some Grilled Weiners.
If you live in the area, pop on by, I am hoping to make this a more regular event once a month type thing, if this goes well. As in, someone needs to be towed back, sinks? Can’t start. That’s sort of goodness. Right now it’s looking like around 12 folks are showing up with boats. But, ya never know, and that’s all part of the fun. If you are interested, there is a Ramp close by, and plenty of dock space. And plenty of folks that can tow you back if needed.
BELOW IS THE FORMAL EMAIL JUST SENT TO THE CREW. Tells all the info.
Hope you enjoyed a great 4th weekend with family & friends.
Short reminder that we will have a get together this Saturday at Matt Smith’s Reedville Railway, aka Woody Boater Global Headquarters! Many of you have already replied that you will attend!
Launch a boat down the creek at Shell Landing and dock at the railway(plenty of room) or come by car.
Please bring your own beverage of choice and a side or dessert item to share. We’ll supply hot dogs with the fixings.
For anyone interested, there is a restored wagemaker for sale on site. Proceeds go to the Reedville Fisherman’s museum, see Clif Ames.
We can also have some informal discussion regarding the Reedville Fisherman’s Museum boat show and what the chapter might like to do this year, i.e. awards, captains party and any associated fees for judged boats to cover the awards or tickets for a party if we have one to cover the food and beverage items. This is the norm with other chapters and shows-
Per last email:
707, Main Street, Reedville
make your way to Cockrell’s Creek, Reedville, around Omega Protein and the “Stack” Head for the Crazy Crab and Reedville Market Restaurant. Matt has several long docks in front of the Reedville Railway.
Via trailer and launch: head to Shell Landing, State Rte. 692, Reedville, VA 22539
Loose plans for now would be:
Let’s plan to Launch when you can after 9, make your way around the point, up creek, to the docks..
Maybe we can organize a little creek tour, or splash party…
Around noon, I’ll get a grill going for hot dogs (still in July 4th mode, can’t say I’ve had a hot dog in months…) and we’ll ask that everyone bring their own beverage and a side or dessert to share.
There is a homemade ice cream shop across and down the street 100 yards or so away if you’re interested. Chitterchats at 846 Main Street.
Some of you might have a boat that is not quite seaworthy yet. Trailer it over and chances are you can get some input from another captain. No boat yet, no problem…come meet some like-minded boat enthusiasts, maybe you’ll consider joining ACBS and the Tidewater chapter.
PARKING IS VERY LIMITED AT THE RAILWAY. PLEASE LEAVE YOUR CAR LOCKED AT THE RAMP AND IF YOU ARE DRIVING, PLEASE TRY TO FIND A PARKING SPACE ON MAIN STREET OR THE MUSEUM. if you are gonna come, contact Eric at his EricZelman@verizon.net
Wow, let the partying begin. Should be pretty crazy with Mr. B as MC. This is what WoodyBoaterville has been waiting for!
Hope to be retired in another 8 weeks-ish so soon I can start lining up a list of events, bbq’s and join spontaneous splash mobs. Hell now that the address is published your wife may look out the window one morning and yell “Matt!! That Rick guy us tied up at our dock again! He really should get himself a part time job somewhere and leave us alone.”
Let’s see. About 1150 miles. If I left now. Crap, I’d miss the last week of summer in the Northwoods.
I’ll be there…going for another record!
lol, wasn’t it 75 or something like that? That may clog the porcelain facilities.
Looks like the boat already found a new home
On saturday I am Going Boating to this swell event…be there or be square!
John in Va
I can’t make this one, but if they become a regular item, I will try to fly down for one.
Plenty of room now to turn some of that space into a WoodyBoater B&B. Wonder how good the Woody Boatress’ cooking is? ” Matt get that Rick guy out of our house! How did he even get in?”
Naming Rights: That second photo of yer long-sufferin’….says it all!
Oh damn! Sounds like a fun idea!
I’m in! Bringing my new (1955) Feathercraft.
