1964 Johnson Deluxe, Plastic Fantastic Classic

The silver and White work
I saw this on an ad on Facebook marketplace and then several other sites. With pricing from $9K-$11K and either way, it is bad ass cool. I know for many this may be coo coo for Woody Boater to make such a claim. BUT, DAMMMMMM!. The silver really works, and thats a color I am usually not a fan of, but it all works so well on this little gas sucker. These are normally a more contrasty color pallet, Blue white, or Red, pinkish? The silver lets the lines take the lead. Very smart.

WOW, updated tastefully. Maybe the speaker cover could be changed. But that gold steering wheel is perfect
Now one may think, oh I can find one of these cheaper out there. Probably. BUT, this one runs and goes. And it was loved. Yes its an outdrive. SO? You should hear what folks say about old wood boats… My point is, go on the internet right now. And find a V6 bad ass cool boat you can plop in the water and go boating in for cheaper money. This is insane kinda money. Like the Sea Pro 21 I am trying to unload for $7,500. If you want a summer of boating fun. Buy one a year and GO, it would be cheaper than plopping down 75K for a new boat.

The business end

Packing some heat

Oh come on. HELL YA

Its got some very iconic lines. – Is that a Johnson trailer as well?
Pull up to the Tiki bar in a pontoon boat? AKA Mini Van, or this. Who’s gonna get the chicks? YA, the guy with the three 300’s on the back of his 500K beast, but thats not the point. You could buy one of these for the next 40 years. AND, in 40 years this will be worth as much as that $400K boat. And you will be in the Penthouse suite of your nursing home and get all the chicks…Stewing hen. OUCH, BTW, I will not be looking in the mirror today!
HERE IS ONE OF THE LINKS, this ones on Craigslist from November,
And here is a video of it starting and shifting.

Thanks for todays posting. It’s always great to see your sense of humor come out! The boat is nice and it is old, not as old as us!
Do you have a pair of black rubber gloves?
My experience borrowing a friend’s tri hull outboard was not the best. A very pounding ride instead of cutting through the waves.
That was my assessment also. They were a stable hull but the waves would get trapped between the tri hulls and make for a choppy ride because unlike a V hull where the wave curl rolls off port or starboard, a “tri’s” wave curl gets trapped underneath the hull and causes it to ride rough. A cat hull would be smoother allowing the wave curl to disperse.
If you look at the brochure, it looks like a tri hull meets hydroplane. Maybe that’s what produces the smooth ride that the brochure claims.
Cool! I love seeing these wild fiberglassics! That particular outdrive setup looks like an ownership nightmare though.
Stay away from it. I think it’s stolen. A tattooed fore arm with rubber gloves. No finger prints! Did anyone see his face? Tri hulls were not my favorite boat anyway.
I would be very afraid of an OMC outdrive.
i had an omc with a v6 it was the best outdrive and easy to service
I am afraid of ANY sterndrive…but it is cool as ship!

Beautiful boat visually. I was shocked when I saw the big motor, I was expecting a straight 4! Also notice the stepped hull. I wonder how that would effect the ride? My buddy has an old trihull and I don’t remember the ride being rough, although we spent most of the time in Muscamoot Bay, which is pretty flat water.
Looking again, that’s a V6?
right out of the Jetsons.
Plastic boats are ok, wooden boats are better; I need my wooden boat fix
A neighbor of our had one back in the 70s. I have the same Buick 225 with a Volvo out drive on my 72 Lancer. I know those OMC out drives had issues but I agree with the comments on the rough ride.
i had one, sold it for $800, glad to see it go. there are three more sitting in a lean-to about two miles from me.
