And The Winner Of The Contest Contest, Contest Of Best Excuse For Another Boat Is….

Kids? Boats? Kids? Boats?

“Honey, I was thinking we should have another baby.” Chad Durren comes through with a all in strategy. And I mean all in. Chad throws caution into the wind and plays the more children card. WOW! I mean this is on next level ship! Its so genus I am in awwww. what a cute baby. And yet.. Chad has a new boat. Now let me break this down as to how truly smart this is. Here is a 10 step process on how it works.

Chad and channeling his Hunter S Thompson gene

  1. Chad wants a boat
  2. She wants kids… btw, not that Chad doesn’t BTW. But Chad holds the cards close to his vest.
  3.  Lily is born, and Chad makes his move. We will name the new boat after and for Lily, It grows up with her.
  4. Now Coup.. And of course he needs a boat? Come on! It’s a fait accompli,. Yes I googled that.

Little Cooper has Mom to thank for his Sons OF Varnish shirt..

  5.  As the kids grow up, boats are ingrained into the family history. It is “normalized” as normal as any family bond is.
  6. At this point Chad has set the course, it doesn’t matter if he has another child at this point.
  7. Grandkids! A new Pet, and he hasn’t even played the anniversary card yet. HER BOAT.
  8. And Lily and Coup as they grow into families, well.. There kids AKA Grandkids have boats and so on.
  9. Its a never ending loop of joy, and just like some sort of genetic trait, is part of the DNA of the Durran Gang!
  10. And that’s what life and family is all about. ” Mommy did you all have me so daddy could have a boat? ” Oh boy!

Lily and Coup.. MOM CAN WE HAVE ANOTHER KID SO WE CAN HAVE ANOTHER BOAT? BAM! Mike Drop!

I bow…and stern to you Chad.. I bow and Stern! We will go find your prize in the garage! Stay tuned for that.. What? 4 days of milking!

Time to step it up. How about twins, triplets, or maybe even quadruplets?

Maybe even sister wives, more kids, more boats!!!!!!

Kids are too old now but my grand kids aren’t. With a ‘69 SS and a 47 Commander I can’t handle another project. Except of course a ‘60 ish 15’ Lyman center helm with a split front seat. They like to fish so that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Anyone know of one that may be available? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

How about a 14′ tiller steer Lyman 1952 vintage. It followed my son home one day. Great project, make you a hell of a deal. Oh I forgot Matt, we are not supposed to do this.

I may have the loan dissenting vote here. Kids are a very long term and expensive commitment. Especially if Grad school is involved. One extra kid could exceed the value of completely restoring and maintaining a cruiser. Better to just ask for forgiveness with a sports car or sparkly present.

Heck, the kids are the reason my wife suggested I get and now have another Red & White – they never forgave us for selling “Tango”, the first one… It’s all their fault! 😉
