Another Amazing Deal On A 25 Sportsman. No Stings, Or *’s

, ,

Jims 25 Sportsman.

Today could be the day your life changes for the better. You could get a 25 Sportsman. It’s beyond affordable, all the works been done, Bottom, engine, passion, love, cool stuff and all. This amazing 1946 25 is ready to go boating. Like today. And I mean really boating. No frame damage, or little issues, GO!
So how is possible. Well it’s simple. The boat is owned by Jim Frachette, who is one of the amazing people that has helped our community for decades. He is the real deal, literally, and enjoys the passion, and has been clearing out the years of it all. Honest, funny and a good pal. Like I said, no missing info here. This is the opportunity to get into this model boat right away. His write up on Facebook Marketplace says it all. Do not wait on this one. $40,000…. Done!

Just back up and head home

If I didnt already have WECATCHEM, I would not even have talked about this one. It would be in my boathouse tomorrow

The Banjo wheel is a great touch

The custom engine box is also brilliant. It covers a 454 Beast

1946, so this is one of the special group that had the pre war hull and post war design details.

This rear seat is a PERFECT addition. Everything on this boats been done to make it a perfect fun boat.

Here is the listing as described by Jim

Fully restored 22 years ago.

Restoration included 5200 bottom-all new inner plywood and new planking. New mahogany sides and decks.
Engine is a 454 Crusader (350 hp). Was taken out of older Century. Runs well.
Engine box modified to hold larger engine and now has a seat for added passengers.
Gauges are after market to work with this engine. All work but gas gauge is not always accurate. Tank comes with dipstick for more accurate measurement.

Upholstery was done at time of restoration but is in excellent condition with no rips, tears or fading.
Hull sides and deck were varnished a few years ago. Interior varnish is a little flat and could use a few coats. Bottom could stand painting but is usable.

Aluminum trailer is at least 20 years old but carries the boat well. Surge brake actuator and lines have just been replaced. Tires are a few years old. Last bearing change is unknown but bearings have always been greased and there are buddy bearings.

Boat can be seen just outside of Austin,Texas. It is not in the water but was last in in January. There is a short video available of it in the water cruising to our local boat show last October.
So how do you make this happen? Well it’s listed HERE on FB Marketplace. And you can contact Jim that way. Or if you are serious, I can forward your email to him to spare him the email spam machine by putting it here.

More boat than I need or want but a great deal. With your promotion, Matt, I know it will sell fast and go to a good next caretaker!

That is a sweet boat and a fantastic price! It’s still out of my price range. Some one is going to be very happy!

You can buy this boat today, use it for 5 years, Put some varnish on it each year and sell it for the same amount if not more. At this price, its one of the only boats , as in ALL boats, that you could go boating for years without loosing money!

I tried to convince Sandi to go to Austin after Dora to buy this beautiful 25 SP. I thought I would just take it to Dora and leave it there so that we would have a boat there when we were there. I got spanked! For some reason she thinks 5 boats are enough and we don’t need one in every state. Damn, sometimes I hate logic!

That boat has some history with a television series Jim and I worked on 20+ years ago. It was restored by Howerd Moore and was used for the show “Classic Boat Living” the show unfotunetly never made it to TV but we did soot a full 45min episode. The filming was done by Brent Hammond at Epoxy Studios.

Just to clarify this story, the show was about the restoration of a 25’ Sportsman. Rather than film over a period of months, they used two boats. Brent Howard, a boat restorer in Grand Lake, OK had a unrestored boat and I supplied the boat that I restored. Through the magic of film they became the same.

IMHO because the market is soft and Jim is one of those people who prices things to move when he decides it is time to let them go.

It is a nice boat. He definitely has more than that in it. I hope someone buys it and we can continue the story of it. I like others, feel that is more boat than I need.

The coolest part of this model is it feels like a 17 runabout and with that beast of an engine will run circles around any other boat. And yet has the room for a small cocktail party
