Another Whirlwind For Sale. Please Save Me From Myself.
As many of you already know, I have a weak spot for these little Whirlwinds. Every now and then I stumble across one and find myself writing a check before my brain can say no. But after about 5 of them I have learned to at least slow down. BUT… This little 1961 14 footer has me twitching. This thing is perfect. It is bone original and does not show any signs of abuse. I spoke with the seller who is selling it for a friend. It was the friends fathers who passed away. Always garage kept and well taken care off. The set up is perfect. A 40 hp on that boat is PERFECT and it is the PERFECT motor.
It has the cut down windshield…ahhhhhhhhhhhh and its priced right… actually very right, about $1,000 under value. It’s listed poorly, and only has 500 views, so it’s one of those odd eBay deals that you get to talk about at the show… For me posting this is a sort of therapy to say let it go…..But…For gods sake one of you please buy this boat and put me out of my misery. PLEEEASE. I do not want to drive down to Florida this weekend. Dammmmmmmm … Click here and save me..
John Rothert, posting:
That is indeed a great looking Whirlwind, check out the original greenish ply floor boards and the really neat Cast whirlwind motor plate….this one is very very original.
Yes John, that does not help things. Yes all the yellow paint is there.. yes the walk boards are still green, yes its a killer 40 ho Merc… God dang it John.. Buy it.. pleeeease. When you are board of it after one run in the water you know you can talk me into it
Matt – the thing looks great – cute little boat.
I thought you were saving up for a 25' Sportsman?
Sorry WoodyBoater I only buy belt buckles and lighters that you feature from ebay. I told myself a long time ago that I would limit myself to buying one nameplate and this boat ani't it. Cute boat, you are on your own.
John Rothert says:
NOOOOOO Matt,….I have 2 of these beauties in the older and 16 foot cetegory…I am doing my share…..
Where is Howard P. Johnson???? Right up his alley…..John
No one is helping here. I am fading… I spoke with the guy selling the boat. It is 100% ready. They are off shore racers and knew what was needed on the boat. It runs well and just made the road trip from Road island… So. i need someone in FLA to help. The only hang up here is a 16 hr drive…each way.. Anyone in lake Dora.. Daytona… Anyone… I will get it from you …
buy it dad!
not funny…Dont you have a class or something.
Great boat! We'd love to see details of the floorboards so we can reproduce them for our 13' 1955. Please feel free to post on the Whirlwind Group page on Flickr…………………………..

Just saw a 1955 Whirlwind 14-foot, excellent shape. Pretty plain, no windshield, just flat seats, no backs. Trailer and 1955 25hp Evinrude Big Twin Aquasonic. Engine supposedly runs great. They want $1,500. Sound like a good buy?
I am interested in this boat ,but this is April 2011.
When I was 5 years old my big brother had one with a 1958 50 Johnson and I would love to duplicate it. I found the engine. I need the boat, 16ft Whirlwind
Thanks for your help
Hi Dave – Thanks for chiming in. Recently we have received a number of inquiries on these classic Whirlwind’s, interested in more information on the marque. We are planning to do a fresh Whirlwind story on Woody Boater in the near future. Stay tuned…
Please let me know if another comes up. I doubt that one is still around a year later.
That one was sold on the ebay sale. We come across them this time of year. Usualy in the 1500-2500 range is what you should pay.
every body is nuts when they say it is worth 1000. to 1500.
I would not sell mine for under 15,000. that includes a 15 hp merc. moter which is max for a 12 foot whirlwind.
If you would like to see pics. e-mail me you should have it.
