Figure a minimum $20,000 in parts and wood to rebuild the boat, with labor thrown in, gratis…$6,000-plus to bring the engine up to this level (tho “original” it ain’t if the boat was actually built in ’52)…another couple grand in that refurbished trailer (gotta love the mahogany running-board treatment)….
So there you have it — around $30,000 invested in a lovely home-built woody, and it may bring half that in today’s stinking market.
OK then…that makes it a legit woody investment!

looking (drooling) over the pics again…that boat has no ass end character at all? Maybe that was the original design but I would bet she handles like crap on anything but a straight line on a calm day? Have to wonder?

I agree with your observation, but IMHO its not the rear end that would cause problem, it’s the fact that E3 is not a lapstrake hull.The design of E3 is based on the jersey speed skiff (check google images) minus the requisite laps and while it looks kool as all get out and clearly “goes like stink” I expect that the ride, stability and turning ability would be somewhat compromised
