Dennis Mykols Spends Some Lyman Tyme On Lake Dora!

Dennis out working the Lyman through the wake!

When we showed up to Lake Dora on Tuesday there was one boat out at the docks. A beautiful Lyman called Lyman Tyme. Fellow Woody Boater Dennis Mykols pronounced “Micheals” by the way was there ready to go. Dennis has just recently picked up his new Lyman from the Antique Boat Center and made the trip down south to do what we all wanted to do. Go Woody Boating. The week for Dennis did not start out as planned though. A leak kept him wondering what in the heck was going on. The good folks at Antique Boat Center stopped everything and had the boat yanked out and bam! A pee stream coming from a screw hole? Within a minute the issue was fixed and back in the water. All we saw for the rest of the show, was Dennis and his bride Ronnie motoring back and forth and out on all the water ways of Lake Country.

Dennis and Lyman Tyme!

Dennis and Lyman Tyme!

Dennis for sure knows how to have fun. We were lucky enough to catch Dennis while out shooting another boat. Ronnie, Dennis’s wife on the other hand was not so lucky that we had 3 cameras focused on the Lyman.. Cue the sequence! Mr Zapruder would be proud! For the record, the wake shot is not easy to do. Ronnie has a great sense of humor about it, and no one was hurt in the filming of this.

Alls swell on Lyman Tyme

The Moment.

The Moment. in razor sharp focus. Sorry Ronnie!

gone?

gone?

We asked Ronnie and Dennis if was OK to share this with our fellow Woody Boaters, they said OK. We appreciate that since this is all part of classic boating. Lymans roll a bit more than Dennis previous race boat. We to have had the same issue .. several times. When you are out on your boat for the first time, stuff happens, thank god Dennis is a long time boater and understood what could happen. We were egging him on to make some drama happen. And he did! The rest of the shots of course were rather more sedate. And everyone was seated on the back seat. Thanks Dennis and Ronnie for sharing.

OK, maybe not so sedate. GO DENNIS GO!

    Dennis,
The Lyman looks great, but you don’t look like the same guy at the helm compared to “Old School”. You look good, but it’s amazing how a boat can change your appearance. Glad you quickly got the leak issue fixed. I am looking forward to seeing you and a “wet” Lyman Tyme” at St. Clair in June.

Matt got me excited during that photo shoot, suggesting I do a couple of wake jumps, then I forgot I was not in the Hacker, and took it a little too fast trying to “GET AIR”…
Only thing getting AIR, was my wife!
That’s my story, and I’am stickin to it!

My friend Lynn and I had the pleasure of riding in Lyman Time on the picnic cruise. It was Lynn’s first ride in a WoodyBoat. Great fun and we stayed dry in the back seat! Many thanks to Dennis and Ronnie! We had a great time!

Ronnie and Dennis were very kind to us new Woody Boaters, and gave us lots of good ideas about where to boat and visit. Many thanks to them, and we look forward to summers on the water. Also, congrats on the sponsor’s award for Lyman Time!

Nice meeting you and your wife, also. We look forward to cruisin with you either up here in Michigan waters, or this fall, down in your warm October waters, for the fall color tours in Tenn, and/or Ky…

Dennis, you look good behind the wheel of a Lyman.

Maybe you should install a ski mirror so you can check from time to time to see if Ronnie is still back there. Or, just put an EPIRB in her pocket.

I think he did it intentionally, to draw more Google traffic.

Try searching “man love”. You should get a redirect to WoodyBoater.

You might not want to interview his wife after that, I threw my wife in the floor once and the after effects were not pleasant for her or me. hah, Randy my sea skiff also came from Irwin Marine in Wolfboro NH, the wood boat numbers there must be dwindling. What great photo shots, the weather was great until Sunday and another good time was had by all.

Your right: I usually buy my boats from the finger lakes and rochester NY area. Usually pretty cheap.

Great looking Lyman Dennis – enjoy! I was fortunate that while on a family vacation in Sandusky, OH I posted an ad on craigslist if anyone in the area would take me for a ride in their Lyman on Lake Erie. I received a response from a gentleman that lived near Akron who had a 25′ Sleeper on the lake & wanted to go out in a couple of days & had no one else to join him – therefore I was in! Imagine my wife’s expression when I told her I just hooked up with a guy on craigslist! My entire family & my son’s friend (who had never been on a boat in his life) were invited as well. I paid for the gas & brought a picnic lunch and drinks for all. Headed to Put-in-Bay for lunch and another bay for swimming. On the ride back I was allowed to take the helm into a steady 4′ chop with a couple of 6 footers every so often. My two daughters were tossed off their perches on the motor box while my wife yelled at me to give up the helm. To this day, the kids still talk about that experience & enjoyed it as much as the amusement park rides. Thanks again to Dave C!

Dennis Nice Boat. Just so you know all the Lymans in my family are sinking just at different rates. So a little screw hole is a walk in the park. I can see alot of fun in your future.
I hope this picture is the tip of the iceburg. I am looking foward to all the shots of the other Lymans. Were they not , the marque for the year? If not, send them anyway, because the sight of Dennis and Ronnie’s boat makes me want more. Gotta go …. have to hug my Lyman that is out in the shed.
