Have You Molested Your Boat?

Bone Original and perfect whaler.
The other day I noticed a car ad on BarnFinds.com BTW one of my favorite sites…about an “Unmolested” Truck. Subsequently changed to “Unrestored” BTW. On the surface I know what that means, but in the #MeToo time that we all live in, is this term correct? Did someone feel up that truck? Is this term a term used in our classic boating community? I don’t hear or read it a lot, but in the classic car world its all over the place. Now to not get nit picky, but its winter and what the hell.. Here is the definition from Websters of “Molest”.
1. To annoy, disturb, or persecute especially with hostile intent or injurious effect “The zookeeper warned the visitors not to molest the animals.”
2 : To make annoying sexual advances to especially : to force physical and usually sexual contact on He was sent to prison for molesting children.

THAYER IV In Original Condition from the film, but was didturbed before the film. Hollywood can have that effect on things
One could argue, and I am sure we will, that the word “Disturb” is where we are here. All the other words are not true. Unless? Well? Hey, What you and your boat do in the barn is your business. But then is it molesting? Or consensual touching? I mean you dig around the bilge and the boat never said it was okay? Anyway, I digress.

ORIGINAL – Now Fin & Tonic Show winner, Molested or Preserved?
I suppose there is a difference between the term Un Restored and Un Molested. Un Restored is the boat/car hasn’t been rebuilt, and un Molested is an un restored version that hasn’t been changed? Maybe that’s what it means. As in adding a 12 volt system to an Un restored boat. That would be a molested boat in this argument?

One could argue that this boat wasn’t molested but it was sure Ducked! HEY, HEY, What ever floats your boat I say! Just having some fun.
Just trying to point out Molesting a boat or car? Come on.. We can’t sing Baby It’s Cold Outside anymore. And, yes, it is cold outside, and we need a good edgy story to warm us all up. Oh boy! I am closing my eyes when I am pressing PUBLISH on this one.
I got molested as a puppy. Not by choice. Now I have no desire to molest anyone.
The hidden story in today’s story is that Matt has a Webster’s Dictionary-who would have known? It is no longer one of the untouchables! What next-spellcheck?!?!
Did Matt molest the dictionary this morning? It was untouched for so long!
I had me some learn’n!
More like prostitution in my case. I paid money, got a service and now everyone is happy.

When I look at mine, I have impure thoughts. I’m probably on a national list that will prevent me from buying another boat.

I think the term “molest” in this context comes from making non-original changes or, changing the integrity of the OEM design. Did you add “cool”, new, non-factory burgee staff ? … molested. Some funky new gauges? … molested. Wire in an 8-track? … molested. a 5200 bottom?… you guessed it… molested. It’s a term for the purists. Regardless of the “improvement” of the modification, if it’s not original, the integrity of that design and manufacturing era has been deliberately disturbed or, technically… molested. Since I like resto-mod boats I’m downright abusive. A non molested boat will be 100% original and unrestored. Rare, indeed.
I often say that I’m out molesting my mistress in the shop, rubbing her butt with 80/150/200 grit, depending on the need. And don’t get me started with what happens with my Reed and Prince… 😉
Because of my white van tow vehicle, I’ve been typecast.
My wife still drives the 1988 Toyota Supra she bought new from the dealership. Last summer, while stopped at a traffic light with the sport (Targa is only on Porsches) top off and windows down, a kid in a riced-out Corolla shouts “I’ve never seen one of those unmolested! It looks SO cool!”
The Supra is not totally original – the radio has been replaced with a modern Kenwood, and the adjustable suspension has been replaced with standard shocks and struts. And I added the rear wing, even though that was only for the turbo version. But otherwise, it “looks” all original.
I guess “riced out” would be a specific form of molestation – adding techno/performance features to a Japanese or other asian car.
Ummm, my 1948 Evinrude Speedifour was molested at the Sunnyland show a couple of years ago. I wonder who the culprit may have been?
