“I Like it Better Than WECATCHEM, But I Smell”. The Boatress

Classic Boats

Like it was made for this spot

Or this spot

Or here

A little shady spot

Oh boy! This spot is gonna get wet

There really isnt a shot of her that isnt timeless

I finally got B in the water and running. Like a champ. That lil B sure pushes it around.. And according to Wayne, he likes the simplicity of it. No leaks drips or errors. Once I fixed some issues. Stuffing area etc. There is definitely a process you have to follow to start her, or that 6 voltness just gives out.

Taking her out

The Boatress at the helm

She loves it. Easy to drive, manage, and not perfect. So it doesnt matter if it gets dinged.  But it does have that exhaust smell. Which is not the Boatress’s fave. Me? I am thinking of bottling it. Channel Marker #5

Stopped by Leadbellys for lunch. Mixed in with the work boats, sure is easy to find a parking space, thats for sure

The B engine is wonderful, The boat is fun as hell. And shockilngly takes a wake like a champ. But the electrical stuff is a true pain in the aft. And yesterday at noon, it finally just crapped out. The starter doesn’t get juice, so its a good excuse to pull her out, fix that manifold gasket, switch over to 12 volt, and getter going.

The Boatress came to my rescue in the new RESCUE ONE boat, okay, okay, I called her, hey can you come get me. But I had not changed the battery in the Whaler yet. 2020.. UGH, so that also was dead. REALLY? REALLY? AHHHH, So dropped a new battery in her and so on. And yes I have a new 12V battery at the railway that was going to be used for this.

I learned this hand signal at Lake Dora this year from Troy. I think it means thank you in WoodyBoaterese.  AHHHHHHH, This is Woody boating.

That sounds like a blast, even with the trials and tribulations! To be able to boat up to an eatery, simply a dream! You live in a very wonderful place! Thank you for sharing, but I would like to know what the Boatress said to warrant your reply! Greg, I’ll see you Saturday! We’re staying in Marine City.

Thanks for the credit, but I learned that signal from Sandi. 😳

B is a blast to cruise in. I stopped in on Bo and Kathy last weekend to see how their 99 is coming along. They are dropping in a V6. Yahoo!!!

“Atlas” is looking gorgeous. Will probably be the best looking Model 99 in the fleet when they’re done.

Get a 6 volt Optima and forget it…cranks the Model A every time. B is a winner for sure. John in Va

Turns out, bad solinoid. Just happen to have a new old stock one. Voltage reg is also shot. Thats not an easy find for today. Going 12 Volt and not gonna deal with all this. But dam sure love the boat

Agree with these two….a properly tuned 6v system should not be a problem. The original ACE in my U22 was 6v and would start instantly w/o any cranking.

We use 8 volt batteries in the A’s and the woodies. Not enough extra volts to blow a bulb but delivers a little extra crank. Great job on B Matt!!

One of the keys to making 6V work is using Heavy battery cables. Heavy truck garages have the cable and fittings to make these up.

Yorktown is still 6V, but I will admit that the PerTronix ignition made a huge difference over points.
