It’s 3AM, Do You Know If Your Bilge Is On?
The stars are out.
About a month ago we hit some heavy seas in Sweet Pea. Oh, it was fun.. I love that stuff. Anyway, since then, well… she started to leak a little more. I know what the issue is and was hoping to make it til fall to pull her and tighten up her keel. Anyway, I took her to the railway yesterday morning, and all was well. Until around 4PM, and none of her bilges would come on.. SHIP! And nothing worked. Power is getting to the panel, and yada yada. Cliff, a retired electrical engineer came over and we trouble shooted.. Okay we shot the ship, and laughed, but could not fix it. An electric pump was found.. But no float. SO! By now I have missed dinner with pals and the Boatress. And sitting there knowing the wiring on the bilge pumps is messed up. Another boat on the rail, and well. Its gonna be a late night and early morning.
Full Bilge, but not the end of the world..
So at 3Am this morning, I was up. Okay, okay, I had to pee.. And so did Sweet Pea.. Oh that Sweet pee feeling.. I digress. and at 3AM I was at the Railway.. DAMMMM its dark.. And plugged in the electric pump, and waited.. And of course captured it all for this mornings story. And so it goes. Another adventure. And one more story down.
Took a short nap while the pump ran. Okay, I was not napping, I was sitting there taking pictures of my legs.

Absolutely love the stillness and beauty of those late night / early morning shots. I feel like there is another worldwide community of people from all walks of life who are wide awake at 3am in the morning!!
Sorry to hear about your issue, but it was nice to have a Sweet Pea story. Seems like she’s been getting left out of WB with everything else going on. Keep us posted on the leak fix.
Maybe Sweet Pea just thinks that it is time to clean her bilge

This pertains to yesterday’s story. Zoomer looks a bit like Bay City Boats, Inc. Design No 218. Transom is correct profile looks similar. published lengths are a little off but could be a lot of reasons for that. Big guess based on very little information. Bay City was a major producer of kit boats from 1920’s to 1970’s.
Two things that have sparked my brain this morning. 1 Matt you may have to move on to Sweet Pea and boat sit for awhile, or pull rank on the Railway. 2 Gary that is interesting observation. Most people don’t know about all the Shipbuilding and Boatworks that went on at Bay City back in the day. Ok my mind has woken up.
I was up at 3:30 AM also, sanding and varnishing a special project. Then to chill after, started watching the end of an old movie, Saturday Night Fever. What were we thinking back then. Thank God, that era died a quick death. Back to Sweet Pea, so what’s the bottom line, I think you left us hanging, or at least me. Guess there will be more to follow. Found a good name for a boat “Always Broke(n)”
When my boats are in the water you must maintain situational awareness particularly the bildg
