It’s A Bird, A Plane, No, It’s Super Skiff! Meet Kabot’s Habit, The Workhorse Of Lake Dora!

Yeah yeah, we have Cobra shots. We have a ton of them, even some very cool in water action stuff coming. BUT, and we are talking a big Bertha Butt Boogy here. The way the magic really happens is on the Trusty 1965 Sea Skiff down here that Paul and Karen Harrison drag down from Calgary Canada known as Kabot’s Habit.

The boat used to belong to a long time classic boater, and has very few hrs on her, or at least she used to have. She is used on all sorts of photo shoots, party cruises, and of course executive Board meetings at the dock!

Thanks Matt – there are a lot of great boats at many shows that don’t get much attention, though they provide just as much fun and enjoyment as their more glamorous brethren. Maybe I am imagining it, but I do think the lapstrakes are finally starting to get a bit more love.
I was particularly impressed yesterday with how many boats were coming and going and giving rides. The Turcott’s were giving rides in their magnificent Gar Wood’s all day, as was Rum Runner. In fact. I heard that the owner of that boat gave rides to all the catering staff from the banquet – very nice! Lastly, as we sat at the dock enjoying the afternoon, we noticed a little outboard fishing boat constantly coming and going – he was giving rides in this lovely little wooden boat, powered by a perfectly running 1915 Evinrude! Great to see.
We put 25 hours or so on the Skiff this week, and probably 400 miles. A few dings but not a mechanical problem to be had. We first put the boat in the water 4 years ago this month after acquiring it the prior fall with 117 hours on it. It now has about 305 hours and has been all over the place. It is my favorite of the small fleet of boats we own and I can’t see ever parting with it.
Joe Kabot would be proud!
Will Stout is just a super nice guy who will give rides in Rum Runner as long as ghere is a line at the dock.
As for the Skiff…no matter the length…there is no boat more likely to bring you home dry than a Chris Sae Skiff.
It was a great show…Loved every minute of it.
Lapstrakes rule. We only have six Lymans.
There’s still time to buy one more before summer!
It is really hard to find a more useful utility than the skiffs. Chris Craft, Lyman, Penn Yan, doesnt matter. If you want to go boating, rough water or calm, any weather, big crowd or small, you can trust a skiff will get the job done.
I do like that YNOT Gulf Donzi too though.

Ok Paul this question has been bugging me for a longggg time … Who is Kabot and what is his/her specific Habit? Enquiring minds want to know.
Kabot’s habit must be boating. Mfine you are correct but we have run out of inside storage. All the plastic has to live outside.
Joe Kabot was a good friend to many. He passed away a few years ago. He lived in Algonac and had many ties to Chris-Craft. This was one of his boats. Yes, his habit was boating.
