Last Gasp Weekend In Full Swing..

It was a cold blistery October Day, with the winds out of the northwest, bringing the cold air mass of Minnesota or maybe even Canada southward. The temperature was cold around 72 Deg. I really had to bundle up. But, I didn’t care; it was the last boat ride of the season.

Steven Gray and his tastey 1941 barrel back. It was so cold in-fact, I couldn’t talk my wife of 22 years into the ride along She said “It’s too cold!”. So, I trudged on by myself on that cold winter day to get the last boat ride of the season.

As luck would have it, when I arrived at Lake Jackson, I found not another boat on the lake. I would have free reign over all the no Wake Zones? Calm water to explore, my V6 powered 1941 Barrel Backs speed and agility as it was the last boat ride of the season.

With reckless abandonment, I zipped along the shore, streaked thru the no wake zones to capture the photos and created my own wake jumps. I felt like a little kid on Christmas morning all giddy with joy.

After all it was the “Last boat ride of the season”

The last run for “Daddy Had One” was onto the trailer at Grand Lake OK (Is that part of a warm area?) for a trip to Antique Boat Center to get a new bottom.  Not as good as a story about a Sportsman full of snow & a bar!

Phil and Betty Jones on the good ship “Betsy” just after she arrived at the dock. This is the first time Phil’s wife Betty had seen this boat! And yes this is The Betsy.. She is now at her new home on Smith Mountain Lake with Phil.. More on thi s later.. It’s a great story

12 boats in a row on Smith Mountain Lake….following Roger and Sybil Smith is “Sybil”.    And this just in as we published from Mark Setterholm in Minnesota.. Mark and Aaron are pulling boats in for the winter.. Don’t tell Mark…I think that started there last month!
