Lets Go For A Nice Calm Ride On Miss America IX. Ya Right!
Thanks to fellow Woody Boaters Charles Mistele, Jim Grant and Jims son Jimmy we all get to go for a nice morning ride on Miss America IX at the 2013 Lake Hartwell Show. Jim restores boats in Hartwell, GA (Grant’s Wooden Boats) no website, sorry…and has taken care of Miss America IX for Charles.
Charles for the record takes it easy on us, As he said “Only the waves and my age kept us from going faster.” Here are some shots of Miss America IX so if you r new to this boat you get the idea..
Thanks Charles, Diane and Jim for letting her do what she was built to do…I’m sure Gar Wood is smiling every time she hits the water!
Love It!
What a great ride, even though I am in my kitchen.
May I suggest a friendly race against Fixitor?
Thanks for the ride, loved it. It must be quite the thrill in real life to sit and ride where Gar and Orlin did back in the day!
I had the pleasure of taking a ride on Lake Sinclair in 2011. The video truly recreates the thrill of the ride. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it.
Very very cool ride. Gave me the tingles.
We need videos like this today, here in the Upper Midwest. There’s a serious funk on in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and Michigan, too. There’s still two feet of ice on the lakes and another half foot of snow on it’s way to Minneapolis. A month of our precious summer is already lost forever. Please, Matt and Texx, give us hope. This is an emergency situation.
I agree with you, Rabbit, Here in West Michigan we have had nothong but rain all month, and this morning it is so dark outside with a downpour of rain and thunder. And Monday, was the first day this year to hit 60 degrees, almost tied a record for the lastest date to hit 60.
I have not had Lyman Tyme uncovered since we got home from Mt Dora!
NOW I AM NOT COMPLAINING, GOD knows we need the water levels to go up, and I would gladly give up a wet/ cool/cold month of April boatin, to enjoy our Great Lakes with another foot of water depth at the ramps and docks, etc.
Oh and this mornings boat ride was a great pick me upper and just may get me thru this wet day.
Only downside to watching Chuck at the trottles, was knowing how much i will miss that feeling of power when I hit it in “Old School” and the boat would roar to life and throw you back into your seat. Sure going to miss that feeling…
Thanks for the thrill ride! Felt real, even on this iPhone. Fun vid. That’s the new word for “footage” if I recall correctly.
holy crap that sure beats that pommie putt putt boat from yesterday.
go on you tube and search miss bardahl and you can take a 11 minute on the green dragon during a race its great
I sure the the top banner going from black and white to color, nice touch.
Don’t take this the wrong way but my sons name is jimmy. I’m glad everyone likes the video. I was surprised at how well it turned out. I just held my sons ipod up in the air.
So where’s the repro good luck mascots (Teddy and Bruin) and what about the surplus WW I aviator helmets with cotton stuffed ear flaps for hearing protection?

What a great selection of pictures thanks Mr Safety. Really interesting to see the pictures of Gar Woods home on the river and the aircraft stationed near the factory. Livin the dream he was. I wonder how many of our Woody Boater friends fly a plane too? Anyone? Huh ?
Glad you liked the pics PA.. My grandfather spent a couple years on Harsens island in the early 1900s and always claimed that he had worked for Gar Wood at Marysville, unfortunately we will never know, for sure unless a photo with him in it surfaces confirming the story. Hence the link… always looking .
Thanks for posting the link Mr Safety…
