Comment by Mike & Anne Gresham, owner of Doc Lane –
Doc Lane was named after Anne's father, Andrew Jackson Lane, who was a pharmacist in Georgia during the 1940's, '50's, and '60's, and who was affectionately known as "Doc". Mr. Lane loved his boats, especially his U22 Sportsman. In 2001, Anne and I decided to enter the vintage boat hobby, so we enlisted the expertise of Antique Boat Center in Cincinnati to locate a special U22 that could be restored in memory of Mr. Lane. The boat that was purchased and restored is U22-1359, shipped on May 10, 1949 to Mercer Marine in Clayton, NY. The folks at Antique Boat Center in Cincinnati have brought Doc Lane (the boat) back to an outstanding level of restoration and as a result, we have won many awards. I doubt we would ever consider selling Doc Lane, because whenever Anne is riding in the boat, it's as though Mr. Lane is at the helm. Kudos to Antique Boat Center for a job well done.

Yes, one of my favorite places on earth. The boats up there are not only special, but the setting is perfect. Its no surprise that such a nice boat would come from there
