Miss America VIII, Can You Come Out And Play? Oh,This Is Gonna Be One Hell Of Shoot Out!
Thanks to fellow Woody Boater Bo Zolland who does some amazing art as we have seen in the past. Bo sent us this cool video of S1 Sverige just motoring along! Is Miss America XIII Ready? oh that’s right, she is still in her dressing room.. I can’t wait for this shoot out..
Maybe I can make a recording of those engines and run it through some speakers on my boat to make the B sound a little tougher. A showdown some day would be phenomenal. Thanks for the video.
There is a way to make it a ring tone!
sounds like 1/4 throttle
I believe the quote is “come out to play.”
Yep, it is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibVhOGDzoA4
I can’t see classic boating people acting this way at a shootout. Though the Hessel one is coming up. And those plastic boating people are a rougher crowd.
Araaaabians, come out to plaaaaayyy
So after Greece pulls out of the Eruo and Italy, Spain and Portugal do a domino impersonation, and the global economy hits the skids again, what are the odds that this matchup gets postponed another 80 years?
Hmmm that seems depressing, I think I might need some extra boating this weekend to cheer me up.
All we need to do is…
1. Find some one to buy Miss America VIII
2. Complete the restoration work
3. Get the V-16 Millers running and race ready
4. Water test her
5. Get approval to run two 80 year old race boats 100 MPH down the Detroit River
6. Make some commemorative tee shirts
7. And invite 50,000 of our closest friends to witness the event
How hard can it be?
Sign me up to volenteer, I would love to see this event take place…
5. Get approval to run two 80 year old race boats 100 MPH down the Detroit River
Texx – just remember: “It’s easier to beg forgiveness than to ask permission”….that in mind;
GENTLEMEN….START YOURRRR ENGINES!
5. ?????
Approval? We don’t need no stinkin’ approval.
Move item 6 and 7 to the top, sell the t-shirts in #6 and the invitations in #7 to raise the money for #1 – 4. Include Miss Canada IV when she’s ready for shakedown cruise for some preliminary teaser runs at different shows to raise more $$$ and promote their movie (ok, I know, they’re different generations-so what).
Sounds like the plot for “Madison”, what a great movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_-y6NOvfug
“We’re gonna go or we’re gonna blow”, Jim McCormick, driver, Miss Madison. Words to live by that I think about every time I get behind in a bike race or trail run. Jim had a nitrous button he could push, I’ve got to reach down to a deeper level, lol.
I bet Miss Detroit III would like to join in on the play date too…
Bob Mishko has the Curtis V-12 ready to go and it looks awesome. The more cylinders, the better – right?
That is one sexy sound! Who needs a radio?
You are all over-thinking this. Just finance it the way the U.S. government does. Buy now, pay never. And eventually, title will pass to China.
Texx –
Since you’ve started the ball rolling, make up an entry list of all the (nearly) period correct Gold Cuppers still running their original type motors, and see if you can fill up a couple of heats. I see a ‘Miss Madison’ pre-quel in the works….
i see they have those dumb a– ineffcient electric windmills over there also. the thumb of michigan has them stuck all over the place thanks to those and ethenol our economy will turn around in nothing flat.
Gents, seems like you enjoy the idea of a bang-boosting-hell- of-a-race-week in Detroit in a year or two. Also liked the idea of making it to a Gold Cup/Harmsworth-tribute event with all the remainers up and running at the same time. Harry Wilson with MC IV wont say “no thanks”. Think also the staff onboard MA IX will come and if they – why not MA X.
If we start to push the ball, maybe someone could see the idea of bying MA VIII and make her alive again – maybe just for this occasion.
Com’on – worth tryin’? Or shall we go back to sleeep?
Thanks Anders. It would certainly be an exciting, one-of-a-kind event…
The seed has been planted, so please don’t go back to sleep.
Just heard from Peter G. that the Miss Canda IV Griffon is almost complete and ready ready for its first test. Once that’s done the engine will be on its way to Tom Adams shop for installation.
Peter has promised a video of the “test”. More 12 cylinder noise … fantastic. Bring it on!
