Rare For A Reason Golden Arrow Cavalier On Ebay
If you are into odd ball stuff, today there is a very rare Golden Arrow Cavalier on ebay. Now, and I say this with lots of love. This boat was a clear sign that maybe the designers at Chris Craft were a bit lost. Clearly before focus groups crushed any ideas of wild creativity. But a funny thing happens 50 years later. Ugly becomes cool and Iconic.

If I had 12K to burn, this would be a must have for the collection. Its gold, its rare, odd and in fantastic shape according to the seller. If there ever was a boat to be a James Bond boat this could be it! Call it Gold Stinker, or Golden Eyeyaya! or The Man With The Golden Boat? So do you have what it takes to own this boat? This thing really looks like it would be a fun boat to play around with. Even has a tandem axle trailer for trips to Dora. Would make a great mate for Termite Terror!
Now for the listing. Bowrider? This guy also needs to learn what a CC Bull Nose looks like, ’cause this ain’t it. Us Cruiser guys are used to multiple bilge pumps, but two working pumps in a 19′ boat? Can you say “Red Flag”?
Perfect entry level boat. Ugly in my opinion but priced right.

The engineer in me has always mounted a second bilge pump in my boats for “mechanical redundancy” just in case one would fail at the wrong time. That has never happened, but I once launched my CC Deluxe without the drain plug, and was glad I had both pumps working so I could get it back on the trailer without sinking. Dumb move on my part, but the redundancy was nice to have!
Two pumps are the way to go. If Lyman Tyme did not have two, it would still be at the bottom of the Traverse city docks.
Unfortunately the front one burned out, and it took A LOT of water in the bilge before the rear pump kicked in.
Oh, and I am still indebted to Matt for saving the day… Or in this case the night.
I think it’s pretty cool. But I also like weird, off the wall stuff. I have a Glasspar too.

Header Day? How am I supposed to get any work done? Are you prepared to adversely effect the GNP? I will also ask what ever happened to the gentleman floating next to his submerged boat. Was there ever a story about that?
I kinda like it also, but see nothing but small tears and nicks in that soft foam backed vinyl gunwales. That area has ALWAYS been the first area to show wear on all my boats, just from daily use, and I am very careful to try to NOT mess up my finishes. BUT –it happens. Just thinking about fender lines, and spring lines chaffing on that material…

These boats should have 2 pumps due to the hull shape. One needs to go at the low point up front when sitting flat, the other in the back to get the water when under way, or on the trailer going up the ramp. The redundancy is also nice to have.

By the way, I kind of like the Golden Eye…
I just checked out the listing. Is that ski pole bracket on the engine factory installed? I really like it. Would it be sacrilege to put on a ’56 Continental?
Yes it would be… However it’s your boat so do whatever makes you happy using it! Although, that bracket looks rather weak. The 283, 327, and 350Q ski mounts are much more robust! Also, the Q mounts are more readily reproducible.. I am currently generating 3D models and production drawings from my ’69 327Q mount for two fellow woodyboaters!
