It’s Summer, It’s The Weekend, And It’s Your Duty To Get Out There And Go Woody Boating!
Yes, I know, I said duty! All kidding aside, this weekend if you are on the fence about going woody boating. Jump the fence and get out there. Show off your boat, offer rides to strangers, OK, maybe attractive strangers, I mean don’t go to Walmart and offer rides, wave a lot and show the planet that Woody Boating is fun and what life on the water is all about. If you live in an area that is not having a boat show, all the better, get out there. Floor it, roar it, and tear up the water. Then, post your pics in the comment section so we can spread your weekend duty! OK, that sounds a little strange.. Have a great weekend!
Glad you didn’t say “doodie”
I can tell you with assurance that I understand “Doodie”!
Thanks to Brodie!
Going to try and get the boat out in the Hamptons this weekend and give rides to models if the wife lets me. New woody a few blocks from me on LI that I saw last night. Century Resorter with NH reg. numbers on it, last registered in 1996. Don’t know year yet. No name on stern. Needs major restoration but looks intact. Anyone know about this one?
I will try to do my Duty!
Working on AB this weekend. She will not be making it in the water by the 4th.
Yorktown is in the side yard swelling! May get her in Sunday? Will try to get some pix if so.
you can count on me to be out there…as always,
John in Va.
The more money I spend at the gas dock, the better my weekend. For some reason, I never feel that way about my car.
I have put over 350 miles on my ’48 22 ft Sportsman in the last three weeks. We have taken four trips ranging from 60-82 miles; and plenty of Bay to still explore. I suspect I will break 1,000 miles this year even though I will be out of town for three week.
Use it like it was built for back in the day!!

lets see if the pic come out this time
Hi Kevin, make sure your resolution for a photo is below 1 MB for it to post.
Glad to hear you are using your boat. Did you get her any bottom work over the winter? Recall we discussed that when you were here. Curious what you decided to do.
Alex, thanks for the pic tip; can’t seem to get it reduced this time, so will still try.
About the bottom, I had the bottom checked again this year and seems to be solid according to the boat wright. The budget is still tight, so have to be practical and keep an eye on the bottom and not replace that is working well. As soon as the budget allows, I will get her done for the peace of mind. I also keep her running around 14-16 mph unless flat seas to keep the stress off of the hull and also provide a smooth ride for us. Turns out at 16 mph she is very happy in the choppy conditions without any pounding; although I burn less fuel at 25 mph.
We may be in Hessel for the show; will let you know.

We are the Whitefish Woody Weekend at Whitefish, Montana – gorgeous part of the country. Never been here before in the summer though – great skiing in the winter. Unfortunately it is raining hard at the moment – hopefully that clears off.
We are also here to help friends from home who are here to take delivery of their (her’s) first classic boat. A 1956 Larson Falls Flyer in perfect restored shape, arrived from Iowa earlier this week for pick up. We’ll launch get the boat no matter what the weather and Karen will begin the classic boat orientation program with her friend Christine, the proud new owner of the Larson. Rain be damned – fun to be had no matter what. Dinner with BK Powell last night got us off to a fine start!
