Well, after a couple days of cleaning, se stinking, and some varnish, Sweet Pea is ready..ish for company. I know this may sound odd, but working on a large boat is actually easier than a small one. Not sure why? Maybe its that you are already out on the water and its kinda like working on your home. Either way, some Walmart Rugs and cushions and we are Woody Trawler Boating. GET OUT THERE!

Not so bad?
It’s still a chad chilly, but with a strong sun its the best boating of the year.. So far, Okay, except Lake Dora. Maybe its the best boating of the last three weeks? Ya.. Sweet Pea is headed over to Butler Railway in Reedville for a paint job on her Hull and Deck. Arn’t we gonna be all snazzy?
Matt, Sweet Pea is one beautiful watercraft. A whole different league of woodyboating and I am jealous!
Maybe because the larger it is the easier we fit in places esp. as we age.

What a great “happy place” to have for both of you ! Freezing rain here and I had to dismantle my boat shelter over the cruiser after the snow load crushed the frame. No damage to the boat. Your photos are like promises of what is to come. Gads that’s a beautiful boat.
I was very tempted to start uncovering boats this weekend with weather in the 50’s, but with 3 – 5 ” of snow falling today I am glad I waited.

The good thing about a cruiser is it’s harder to spill your adult beverage which in a smaller boat gets bounced all around crossing wakes or in rough water. I wonder when they’ll come up with self driving boats so you can sit back and relax in the aft cockpit and enjoy said beverage with guests.

My som Don and I uncovered the Boston Whaler, installed the battery, and put all the gear back into the boat on Saturday While it was partly sunny and in the upper 60’s it was still too chilly to splash for a ride.
It was a couple of fun hours just puttzin around the little Whaler, dreaming of all the fun we will have with her this summer.
Matt, Does Suzy know you disconnected the steering? 😉 The boat looks great! Can’t wait to see how the new exterior paint job turns out.
I’m curious, what is the sprocket just forward of the steering wheel used for? Auto pilot, Remote steering, ???
It appears the original steering utilized a chain set-up routed below deck to a sprocket and steering gear that was linked to the rudder. Pretty common on workboats and older cruisers.
What did you say about big boats being easier to work on? I just picked this whaler up for Jill thinking it would be a quick and easy job. I guess it doesn’t matter when Royce H gets volunteered to shine it up.
