The Ultimate Holiday Gift. A CRUISER! And It’s FREE!
Yesterday we received several emails from folks complaining that offering nice holiday gift ideas that are $200K boats made the hobby look like is was full of “Got Rocks”. I guess the 5 gallon bucket idea for $5 was to expensive for some, or the Monkey fists, or varnish kit, Larry The Lyman book to much? ….So, you asked for it. This is your chance to live like a “Got Rocks”, for FREE. That’s right, Mr Got Pebbles, you can parade around in your Mullet cut.. business in the front, party in the back, and complain about how much your yacht costs now, just like the rest of us “Richy Riches”.
A very nice Owens 40 footer. Yours. FREE! Park it under the Bear Can tree and surprise the family. Sure you owe 3 months back rent on your trailer. Who cares, you and “Star” your new girlfriend you met at the bar last night can move onto your yacht you hooked her with. Just imagine how cool you will look driving up to the marina in your I Rock Z ..You and Star, while all your brats and X are back in the trailer park! All ya gotta do is avoid the marina manager cause you owe him some rent.
All kidding aside, this is a cool Christmas gift idea and a very cool 40+ft Owens Flagship Tahitian, 1964, available for free. I wish it was closer to Virginia.
Apparently it has had a new marine-ply epoxied bottom installed about five years ago. There are some minor engine issues, but the vessel is too good to
scrap, judging from the owner’s comments. It has twin 327’s that kinda work. To be clear, even when these sort of boats run, they will need some attention. But it does appear that the owner cares about this boat. The drama playing out is that the boat is in Ontario and needs to be hauled out ASAP because of the ice coming, and the boat yard is not going to haul it out because of insurance issues. And since it won’t start, it either needs to be towed, or stated and moved , OR GASP SCRAPED! If you want to be the Ultimate Santa this year. Hook up the trailer hitch on your I Rock Z and head up to Canada PDQ! Tell your Old Lady to clear an area under the tree.

Thanks to Rob Attfield from Port Carling Boats for the heads up.
Kinda works, should run, ran last weekend, needs some work. Doesn’t that describe most of our boats? Ran fine a little while ago? I seem to remember a picture of you this past summer (?) on the stern of a blue finned Cobra. Was running, isn’t now, will again. Or mine, Vann Ness…Help! For free at least you’re starting out with a number the spouse can live with. How difficult can it be to transport across the Canadian boarder? Raise a sail and dock in Algonac.
Is the propane tank full?
It’s and Owens and rare! Why? I can smell the dry rot from West Michigan. The propane would blow it up but it won’t burn.
I don’t want to blow it up. I want the extra propane tank. Nothing worse than running out of gas in the middle of grilling some NY strips.
Make a deal with the canadians get the Monkey running around at Ikea thown in with it. You will be half way to your lottery winning dream
Thanks, but the IKEA monkey is too small. I need a “bodyguard” sized monkey. A chimp or an orangutan should work. He shouldn’t be smarter than me (which rules out gorillas).
If it’ll fit on my single axel EZ load, I can pull ‘er out with my Chevy S-10!
Yup, that oughtta work. Honey, where’s the jumper cables….
Now your talkn.. thats the spirit
Hey, watch the “I ROCK Z ” comments. My wife Ronnie owns a mint black 1985 Camaro I.R.O.C.- Z with only 49,000 miles on her. We bought her in 2004 with 34,000 miles, from a local car collector, who bought it new. He is older than me, and that’s old by the way. That’s important, cause I know this is one I Rock Z that has NOT been ragged on…
Free my arse. That thing will end up costing more than the Garwood.
You got that right, iIbought a 1970 El Camino (no mullett jokes please) for $5000.00 and when I got done with it, I got $33,000.00 in to it. She is for sale at $24,900.00.
Yep, been there, done that…
I can tell you from experience, If you are taking a boat out of Canada that LOOKS like it might end up in THERE landfill, trust me they wave you on thought with a BIG THANK YOU SMILE. They are thinking “yea bury that S*(^& in your country, we don’t want ours polluted.
Good to see Joe Dirt on Woodyboater.
That boat is free like my children are free.
That boat would put me in the trailer park. On the other hand I would never have to sleep there.
Come to think of it, my kids were kinda like one click events too… But there was no mechanic or transporter involved. To my knowledge.
Sounds like they need to list it on Bone Yard Boats

Chad’s dream Chimp…
I don’t know, he looks smart. He’s already a better golfer than me.
It’s than “I” Chad, than “I.”
Oh yeah? Well, your mama slept with Charlton Heston.
Damn dirty ape!
I may have mine cruiser up for free soon, stay tuned
