Update On Progress From Katz’s Marina

All the boats are tucked away and safe.. As safe as they need to be I suppose. Tommy calls this piece of art. “Double Decker Boat” This correct craft won’t be in Florida by the way
As reported yesterday, we traveled up to Lake Hopatcong to pick up Suzy and see how things were going. Wow, the clean up is under full throttle. These guys wait around for no one. In true Katzs style, Tommy and the gang have cleaned up and are close to being ready for rebuild. Here are some photos of things cleaned up and ready.
That’s pretty much it, it’s clean and nice. Work is going full throttle for boats being prepped for Lake Dora in just 2 weeks! YIKES!

Alan Johnsons lettering is amazing, this may look simple. Its not. That bevel takes hours. but well worth it.

Uno the first racer made, and Evoline, one amazing barrel back. Orange deck seams. Dang, She is slated to be at Dora with Uno
Is every story this week going to have just a hint of pumpkin? Love Uno – have you got more info?
1947 19′ Chris Craft Racing Runabout Hull #1 “Uno”
Hull #503 Last one Made.
Any idea how many boats were written off?
Out here we refer to blue tarps as “Idaho siding ” or “Montana roofing”. Only partly in jest. Ha
Down here, we refer to duck tape as “Alabama chrome”.
that’s a good one!
I thought Blue Tarps became famous for roofs in New Orleans, after Katrina? at $3000.00 a roof?
I recently viewed a 1947 low s/n in process of resto near me here in St. Leonard. Great find in New Joisey. More later. CQ
Fly into SoCal, the blue in the backyard is a pool, fly into Seattle…
It’s amazing how quickly they have gotten things moving in a positive direction at Katz’s – and how well so many of the boats came through! Standing ovation!
I’m curious to know the fate of Candlelight, the CC rocket featured on 11/6/13. It was placed above another CC rocket, Reneeshins. Any information on both craft would be appreciated.
You can only see it here on Woody Boater. The first Chris Craft 19′ Racer, and currently McCall Boat Works has the Last 19′ Racer made, Hull # 503. It is in our clean room right now getting new finishes and new interior.
Hull #503
Gosh, Don, you are really getting into the racing runabouts. I am sure it will turn out well. You did a great job on Rainmaker.
Rain Maker, Happy Days, SpinDrift, MoJo, Cherry Float, we do take care of a few. Thanks to Brian Robinson we are able to obtain the correct interiors. Now, if I can keep enough MBL’s in stock.
You should call it Lasto
Finito or better yet “I. M-Finito”
Highly recommend a visit to Katz. The warehouses/showroom are a veritable museum.
