Vote Today For The Riva Aquarama Lamborghini
Fellow Woody Boater Sandro Zani from Riva-World in Holland needs our support. Sandro and his crew at Riva-World recently completed a 3-year restoration of this amazing Riva Aquarama Lamborghini – certainly one of the most outstanding classic wooden boats on the planet, which has been nominated for the title of Classic Boat Powerboat of the Year. Also – If there was an award for best 5 minute video of a classic Riva boat, the YouTube video of the Riva Aquarama Lamborghini (featuring Carlo Riva) at the end of this Press Release would also get our vote.
But we have to vote quickly, because the voting ends at midnight UK time on Sunday (which is 7:00 PM EST in America). Here’s the official Press Release from Sandro at Riva-World.

Legendary and Unique Riva Aquarama Lamborghini has been nominated Classic Boat 2014 Powerboat of the Year
•Recognition for fastest Riva Aquarama in the world restored to original condition by Dutch specialist Riva-World
•Voting possible until midnight, Sunday 16th February
UITHOORN, HOLLAND – February 14th, 2014.
The Riva Aquarama Lamborghini, built 45 years ago for and commissioned by Ferruccio Lamborghini, founder of the superb Italian sports car brand, is the fastest Aquarama in the world and has been fully restored to its original condition last year. Now this Aquarama has been nominated for Classic Boat 2014 Powerboat of the Year by the prestigious magazine Classic Boat and voting is still possible.
A Dutch Riva collector tracked down the boat some years ago and had it fully restored to original condition by Riva World, a world-renowned Dutch specialist in the restoration of Riva boats. The project took around three years in total, during which the Aquarama was returned to its original condition from top to bottom.
The wooden hull was repaired, sanded and no fewer than 25 coatings were applied. The wooden interior was repaired and the seats were re-upholstered in the famous Riva design; all buttons and switches were disassembled, repaired and re-installed; all chrome parts shine again like new and… naturally Lamborghini’s Riva received a new beating heart. Now it is the fastest Aquarama in the world, thanks to twin Lamborghini V12 engines from the very first Lamborghini ever created: the 350 GT.
The two wonderful sounding Lamborghini 4.0 V12s deliver 350hp each and are equipped with six twin Weber carburetors (twelve in total) with a rev range between 700 and 5,000 rpm. Together they give the Riva Aquarama Lamborghini a top speed of around 48 knots, compared to 40 knots for regular Aquaramas that Riva fits with twin V8 units as standard equipment.
With the completion of the restoration this unique one-of-a kind Riva Aquarama Lamborghini has become a magnificent collector’s item that knows no equal in terms of restoration level and workmanship.
Voting
Voting for this unique Aquarama is now open until midnight in the UK, Sunday 16th February (7:00 PM EST in America), and can be done at: http://www.classicboat.co.uk/awards2014 or by simply Clicking Here.

Thats an easy boat to vote for, love that combo, would sure like to be in the cockpit to listen to those two v12 humming away.
Phfssssttt…..Only 48 knots with all that horsepower? Bring on Chris Smith and Gar Wood.
Agreed, Jack. It should go faster with all that power. I would love to hear it in person but wouldn’t want to have to tune and sync 12 carbs!
Done!
The competition is not even close to this boat, when you look at the type of boats, the boesch is a wonderful boat but the picture does not come clsoe to giving it a chance to beat the riva. The riva engines are identical to the original and rebuilt by lamborghini. I have been to Lake Iseo and had the opportunity to see this boat at Bellini Nautica. This is a premier Riva facility complete with a museum. Visit portcarling on facebook for to see more
here is the engines running
(function(d, s, id) { var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0]; if (d.getElementById(id)) return; js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id; js.src = “//connect.facebook.net/en_US/all.js#xfbml=1”; fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs); }(document, ‘script’, ‘facebook-jssdk’));

Voted for “Lamborghini” because it is such an awesome boat, but I have to admit “Snowgoose” also caught my eye.
Are you sure that is a real Riva? I didn’t see any Riva girls in the entire video.
Hey Matt: Matt can fix that for you!
Wow !..that Riva is nice…even without Riva girls but the new Chris Craft launch 36 showing at this weekend’s Miami boat show got my attention. A “toy” everyone should have, the compant says
Marty’s big spash
How about a TRUE HERO.
Sent to Dunkirk and active in the run-up to D-Day, saved three times from the scrapyard, bought by the Dunkirk Little Ships Restoration Trust for £1, and restored over 20 years with a £900,000 HLF grant and at last a new boiler, the 1931 steam tug Challenge is a born survivor, and a living, steaming piece of marine history – a reminder of the days of the Thames shipping trade.

Not sure how we got so far off subject but while we are….Check on the back of the 1947 (?) I’m pretty sure it was ’47 Chris Craft sales catalog for a story about a Chris Craft that was a Dunkirk shuttle boat that saved quite a few lives. Wish i had the catalog here to scan and photograph. I think we did a story about her in the Brass Bell which should be findable in the club on line archives.
Wonder if there were any Rivas in that masive supply of small ships saving lives ?
The “Challenge” is one of the nominees vs the Riva
Riva, if around, would have been on the other side
As the voting is being held by a classic boat magazine in the UK, I suspect that the “Challenge” may do better than the Riva in the vote, as the Brits celebrate and honor the saving of the BEF from the beaches of Dunkirk.
Wilson, BTW. Here is a CC from the action.

Hamster posted that picture of us in my Super Aquarama doing the big jump during a helicopter shoot. It was Don Ayers first Aquarama ride – Don, how was it?
PS – that boat has 800 horsepower and clocks almost 60 at sea level.
VOTE EARLY & VOTE OFTEN!
Doug:
You have done quite a bit of Dunkirk research…You brought up two more boats I didn’t know about…Good work…Maybe Woody Boater will bring all this to greater visibility next year on the anniversry of the Dunkirk occasion.
Wilson – Anything is possible, always looking for fresh, interesting and different content.
