Well Pilgrim, It’s Our 12th Thanksgiving Together.

I looked back at all our Thanksgiving stories to make sure I was not repeating myself, and then I thought, isn’t that the point of holidays like today. To come together and appreciate the harvest of the year and look forward to a winter of family.  Yes I know the history of it all. Growing up in Virginia it’s pounded into your brain. At least the 1950’s text book version. And I am okay with that. Since most holidays are glazed over reasons for gatherings that are universal around the world and culturally neutral. There I have said all the PC stuff so I can move on to sitting around, eating to much, sleeping and just doing nothing with family.

Dive in, it’s Betty Lu’s Cream of Asparagus Casserole – for some reason there is always some left over.

And yes, you are part of our family, and hopefully in an odd way of the connected universe we all live in now, together today here. I can just imagine a big dinner with the cast of characters we have here. We have it all. Crazy uncles, drunks, the cousin who had the nerve to bring his girlfriend and his wife, who thinks she is really his assistant. Grandpa who is stuck in the late 50’s and tells dirty jokes. Our little happy dysfunctional family of Woody Boaters. I hope you all have a good time, and get a chance to go out into the barn and say hi to the other part of our families. Happy Thanksgiving. Pass The Varnish!

Happy Thanksgiving to all! Remember that the Pilgrims were woody boaters also. Not that they had any choice. Just like a lot of other early explorers, it took a lot of guts to sail off into no where in a tiny wooden boat. Enjoy the day. Go boating if you can. Even if it is just sitting in your beauty in the garage trying to explain to some family your hobby/passion.

That’s a flimsy looking ski rope on John’s boat. The look on his face says “Ooo dude- that’s gonna leave a mark”!
    Happy Thanksgiving all.
